Default Remembering E

After feeling very trapped in my life I decided to reach out and write to some penpals around 2012-2013. This is where I met E. His real name is Ernest. We shared many wonderful things and I am so grateful to have had him in my life when I did. Unfortunately over the years he gave up his sobriety and turned back to drugs. I had to say goodbye. We still wrote and spoke over the phone from time to time but the trust was broken and we could never go back to what we were. I had not heard from him in awhile and had let go of my PO box. I decided to text his mother and ask her to kindly let him know that I would be writing soon and giving him an address to write back too. I never heard anything back. I decided to investigate further. What I found what devastating. He still had my name on everything. I was finally able to get a hold of the person that deals with calling families and friends when a death happens. He told me that E had died in his cell a few months back. I couldn't believe it. I sat there for a second. I cried for his daughter. He loved that little girl so much. I imagined her getting the news and it looking something like my older daughter melting down when I had to share the news that her father had passed. I started to remember all the moments we shared. Songs will come on regularly that remind me of him. I do wish we could have spoken again before he passed. I still cherish the last time we spoke regardless.

So this is to you E. This is to remember you and share that someone is thinking about you, someone is acknowledging that you had a huge impact on their life in an incredibly positive way. He helped me to build and find trust again. He helped to me to realize love in ways I never imagined possible. The laughs we shared. The tears we shed together. Thank you so much Ernest for everything we shared. I am so sad to hear of your passing. You will be thought of often.

I am so sorry to hear not only of your loss, but of how you found out about it.

I hope that the happy memories will allow you to work through your grief in a healthy way.

A loss of any sort often turns our world on its head for a while. Give yourself permission to be upside down at times.

My condolences for your loss. You've shared a wonderful tribute to E and it is my prayer, he knew how much you cared for him and the joys you brought into each others lives
