Smile Finally getting around to this intro thing

Hi Everyone!

I'm Jenny. I live in California
but grew up in the Toledo area .

One of the closest friends I've ever had is in an Ohio prison for a ridiculous amount of time (his total sentence is 49 1/2 years) for a couple relatively minor drug charges that were his first offense.

After he was in prison doing 4 1/2 years some habitual drug offenders unknown to my friend decided that they would make up a bunch of nonsense about him and get him charged with additional crimes. He refused to make a plea bargain over stuff he hadn't done and ended up with an additional 45 years for what was really still his first offense.

This summer I'll be in Ohio to visit him and work on some of the research for his appeal and I hope I'll get to have lunch or something with lots of you while I'm there.

I'm a kidless career woman with a lot of life experience but right now I'm off school and work due to major surgery planned in December. I beat a rare disease that was previously terminal. I am the first person on record as beating it and that experience has taught me to believe that ANYTHING is possible.

Jenny

Hello! My name is Beth. I live in southeatern Ohio. I worked at SCI Lancaster and Comp Drug fulrlough house in Columbus. I personally was incarcerated at Marysville and Franklin Pre-Release in Columbus. I decided after my release to work to change the system because innocent people do and are serving time. I became a private investigator and I work for a law firm in Columbus.
I have friends I met while incarcerated, that I write to as well as a few of the men who were on my case load at Comp Drug, who caught new cases. I have one pen pal on deathrow. I hope to work to help end the death penalty for as long as it takes.

hey everyone. my name is michele and i am 21. my sweety had to leave last tuesday to start a 2 year sentence. i was left with three kids. our son is 3 and our girls are 5 months. i guess i am lucky compared to some of the other sentences i have seen, but i still never thought it would happen to me. i love him and miss him very much but i just dont know what to think of the whole deal. i want to feel sad for him but i just cant sometimes. i mean he knew what he was risking by doing what he did and he did it anyhow leaving me all alone with the kids. i guess i am just haveing trouble sorting out my emotions. and i cant talk to this about with family or friends cause i will either be told i am wrong or that i am right and should leave him, or something like that. so i want to talk to someone who is going through the same thing as me. i dont know how to do anything in this place yet, like private messaging anyone and stuff like that.
i thank you for any advice or support. and i will give some too for anyone who is as lost as me with the situation.
your new friend,
lost and totally confused.

Hi Everyone,
My name is Kim. I'm a mother to a little 3 year old girl. My husband is in Lorain right now. He is looking at 6 mos. I know that it don't sound that long compaered to some of you. But, it's a very long time for him and me. The judge said he would concider a judicial release in 60 to 90 days.Even if he sits 6 mos in prison or 60 days, he his to go to a CBCF after words. And that is a 6 month program. We have been together for 7 years and been married for 4 years.
Thank you all for being here!!!!

Hello Everyone. I have been on PTO for a while but posting in the Texas forum. I am a Texas girl that lives in Kettering. My husband is in Eastham Unit in Southeast Texas. I just got back from visiting my sister in Texas and from marrying my soulmate (on November 15) and visiting him. Now, I am working on transferring down to Texas so I can be closer and see him every weekend. JuBaby told me about the G2G and I will be attending on the 19th so I hope to meet lots of you!

Default Hello

My name is Dawn and my son Lance was sent to Madison last night from CRC. I am new to all of this and don't mean to sound stupid but I have never had any dealings with the law before so this is all so scary for me.

I can tell you one thing though I am getting really fed up with the way the people in these institutions treat parents and loved ones on the phone.

Lance was given an out date of July 3, 2005 but we were told by the Judge we could file for judicial release 30 days after he hit Madison. Right now I don't have any cash left to pay an attorney for this and I am having difficulty in trying to find out how we can file and what we need to file on our own.

I want my baby home so bad.

Default I'm from Michigan too, but my guy is at OSP

Hi There ... my name is Pam and I'm brand new to this forum, but I want to start out by letting you know how thrilled I am to find a group like this!!!!!! Not only am I new to this forum, but to the world of being involved with a Prisoner. This past year has been really tough for me. I lost my mother, my job of 25 years and my dog of 12 1/2 years. I found myself in a really low spot and found myself wanting to help put a little sunshine and joy into the day of someone who was worse off than I was. I found Write-A-Prisoner.com and found a couple guys I thought I'd like to write. I'm not quite sure how it happened, but I was doing a search online the day after I had written these guys and found my guy's profile on PrisonPenPals.com. We like to call it devine intervention. As soon as I saw him and read his profile, I was stopped in my tracks. I wished I had found him first and that I had never even begun to write the other guys. It was like I found my soulmate; he spoke directly to my heart!! Probably no one in the world would understand my feeling other than those of you ladies here. Although we've lived such totally different lives, we speak the same language. We are older; my guy will be 52 and I will be 48 in January. We are both Capricorns. My guy has been incarcerated since he was 24 years of age but is one of the most amazing men I have ever met in my life. We write 17, and 18 page letters back and forth several times a week. My guy was 8 months from being released and became a victim of the Lucasville Prison Riot. The Good Lord willing, we have less than 5 years to go !!!! I have just started really dealing with the prison system head on and am feeling pretty downhearted and defeated at times. I sure could use a support system to learn the ropes and get some inside information from those that have "been there, done that". My guy is at OSP. I'd love to communicate with anyone else whose loved one is there. Also, I have no clue how to start my own "thread" ... just how to reply. Help me learn the ropes ladies? God Bless You all and All of Your loved ones and Happy Holidays to All !!!!

Post Try this again

I'm new to this and wanted to make some connections since I'm the father of a 23 year old son about to enter the system. Aggravated vehicular homicide charge. I said try this again because I was almost finished with my first reply, and I was dropped off line for some reason. anyway, anybody wants to talk, get ahold of me. You're all in my prayers. later, Mark
