Default Ojibway Information/Gossip

Just wanted to know if there was anyone with a loved one at OCF. I would love to talk. My loved one has been there for 2 + months. Just wanted to start a new thread so that we can talk.

Today Tim said that it didn't snow (good he's sick of snow), sunny but very cold. What's your tidbit!

Happy chatting.

So sorry to hear that your husband is 11 hours away but so happy to have someone to commiserate with. :-) Tim mostly said it's very boring, very cold, and very snowy!!!!

I like having someone to talk to too. I was shocked when he went over the bridge. I always knew it was possible..but I thought we were safe. Oh well. I just wonder how long he will be there.

I hate this. It is so expensive and I feel like we are arguing more because we can't see each other to hash things out as they come up. 15 minute phone calls and Jpay's are okay but they just make me miss the visits. Heartbroken....

My husband is at Ojibway for another go round. He's done more time there than any facility. He did time there when it was a level 2 & then they sent him back there when he went to level 1 until he got parole in Jan.2010. Unfortunately he's back on parole violations since Oct 2011. We never thought that he would go back there but they transferred him from Saginaw back up there 2 weeks ago. We have a 1 & 2 yr old that miss their daddy but I just keep telling myself that he maxes out in 2 years and we are gonna make it. If the MDOC just wants to keep flopping him til his max date then we'll deal with it & at least he wont have any parole stipulations. If you want to talk I'm here.

My baby was sent there in January. He did 8 months at Baraga and 5 or 6 more at St. Louis. St. Louis was great, only 40 minute drive. He is now at Ojibway. :-( Too far. We'll deal with it as well because there is no other choice. This is his first bid. I hope it will be his last. How does he like Ojibway, other than the distance.

You are a brave woman and determined too! To take two kids under 5 on such a long trip takes courage. :-)

I need some advice everyone..my husbands mom is very sick in the hospital. It doesn't look good. Do the prisons tell him or do I wait until he calls or send him a jpay. I hate him being alone if she dies. Is there a chaplin. This sucks. He is going to be crushed. Any ideas? Thanks everyone.

I'm so sorry you & him are going through this. We going through a similar crisis with my own mom. If anything happens then just call the prison but the really crappy thing is, they will only tell him if she passes away. They dont care otherwise.

I would definitely talk to the chaplain so that he can get some counseling and won't be completely alone. He will need this. I can't imagine what it would be like to receive news like this.

Thinking of you and your situation today merrandr. Hoping the Lord is guiding you on what to do to make it easier for you and your husband. Tough spot but be strong!

I hope all is well just adding a post if anyone is out there. Tim said that the sun was shining and the snow was melting. He said they were uncovering the picnic tables that were covered with snow. May God bless our loved ones way up there and send them closer soon. I don't know about you but my heart is broken and I just want this nightmare to be over.

It broke my heart today. When my husband called, our 1yr old heard his daddy's voice & just started cryin sayin dada. Our boys miss him so much. I hate the MDOC & how they have so much power. I cant wait until he's done with all this. Even if it means he has to do until his max of 5/16/2015.

It just seems to drag on some days and I am so lonely for him. I know that you are too. I'm tired of waking up without him. I want him home to help with all of the crap that goes wrong everyday. He can fix anything. He's not here. We will get through this. Ojibway just seems like cruel and unusual punishment.

I know exactly how you feel. I just keep thinking that they can only keep him until May 16,2015(he max outdate) and then MDOC has no say over our lives forever. Stay strong..

Thank you so much it was great. I don't know if I will see him again before his parole if he stays up there. He was so happy to see us. It was like for the first 10 minutes he couldn't believe you were there. We kissed too long at the end on Saturday and got a warning. I couldn't help it. I tried not to cry but i did. :-( I hope that you guys get there soon. They seem so isolated. The officers were so very nice. They seemed excited to have some visitors finally. The room was so full they had to put more tables in and even ran out of visitor passes. The Google map was accurate and going up 2 to 69 then back on 2 really cut a lot of time off. I miss him already and hope that you all get to see your loved ones as soon as possible! Thank you for your support. Shout out to PaigeOnly, thank you for a wonderful trip! It meant so much to us.
