Default Drug War In Prisons

My brother is in Kansas Department of Corrections. He has been there for 6 years and has four more to go. He has charges against him, and his crime was commited when he was using Crystal Meth and Wet. He was doing really good in the system. He had a job even a dog. He recently lost his job, and I found out he was sending money to my grandmother and she was forwarding it to different addresses. He then started asking me to send my own money to different places. After visiting him, to my surprise I found out he is using drugs again. He then informed me how easy it is to obtain drugs in prison. I was very upset. I became more upset when I found out there is not a rehab in prison. They have to know how easy it is to get drugs, why wouldn't they help him get off. Instead they prefer to punish him. I have tried to find some kind of organization that will help him, and have come up empty handed. Is there anyone that has any suggestions?

I hope someone comes along with a suggestion but to tell you the truth, all prison is in North America is a 'sweep under the rug'. There are even more cuts going on across the board and over crowding etc. The last thing they want to think of is how to help a guy get it together and never return to prison ( cost them even more money ). It the 'put a bandaid on the amputation' attitude. Its getting worse and worse. The best thing I can tell you is there is AA meetings in prison and some have NA but all of them have various religious support, perhaps he can get help that way. There is little else though there are some organizations that send addict courseware to prisoners and you can look into that, I think there is a post about it either on this forum or in the addiction forum. Im pretty sure someone here knows about it. If not, do a search for it on Google. Good luck and if all fails, pm me and I will help you find something.

Thank you for the suggestions. I find it so frustrating. I would not have a problem paying an additional tax to help anyone with a drug problem. I live in Ohio and am leaving today to visit him this week. I plan on talking to him about getting help. I will let you know how the trip goes when I return on Monday. After that we can figure out a plan. Thank you so much for your kindness.

I was also surprised to find out about drugs in prison. My man literally wrote me a letter telling me about it. He's been there for less than two weeks. He said if they can't stop it in here what makes them think they can stop it out there.

I'm just really sad and frustrated.
