yes the movies were in english!!!

it just depends on the movie...
they have english
english with spanish subtitles
or just spanish

of course the movie i wanted to see was only in spanish...most disney movies are in spanish the lorax and mirror mirror were spanish only

going to the movies is very cheap here...
30pesos (2.50usd) for regular movie screen and 56 pesos (4.50usd) for 3-d movies the price is all day so no matinee pricing

I am glad he got there fine, it is very dangerous and that unfortunately has become the norm for the deportees. Did they take his money while he was waiting for his bus? No safe place to wait I guess, it is not safe to stay in Matamoros and your still a target in Monterrey. How are things in Jalisco? you guys would not consider living there? I would love to be able to go to central Mexico but when you don't plan/save for it; it is near damn impossible. And my kid does not know Spanish too well. He understands and I am sure he will pick it up with no problem.

When first deported your loved one will recieve and have the option of...
1.paper ID
2.a phone call
3.a meal
4.up to 10 days shelter
5.and/or pay up to half of a bus ticket to your home state

Documents needed for ID/IFE (Instituto Federal Electoral) this card is free.....
1.original birth cert
2.copy of a bill showing current address
3.hand drawn map showing cross streets of where you reside
4.2 witnesses verifying who you are

Documents needed for work....
1.IFE
2.Seguridad y Solidaridad Social---free @ instituto Mexicano Seguro Social
3.CURP--you will receive this number on your IFE card
4.Transcripts---highest level of education US or MX
5.Carte de No Antecedentes Penales ($150 pesos)--printout from the Mx courts stating whether or not you have any criminal history in MX (you get this when asked by employer because there is an expiration date)

Enrolling children in school (enscribir).....
Elementry public--birth certificates, current report card, or current state testing scores

Middle and High school public and private---transcripts as far back as 6 grade, birth certs, current report card and or state testing scores

based on the above info the director of the school will decide if the child should be held back a grade or continue in the grade they were attending in the states. both of my boys stayed in the grade they were attending in the states. They base there decision on a scale of 0-10 10 being the highest anything over a 7-8 will stay in the same grade.

Renting house or Apt---
when going through an agency you could be asked for someone to co-sign that owns property in TJ

It is much easier to rent from a private owner
Utilities will be kept in the owners name

Drivers license $750 (this could change) pesos plus cost of physical and drug test---
IFE card
physical
drug test
written test
driving test

I hope this helps and if anyone has any questions or has any solid information please add to this thread.

With love and support you and your family will make it through the relocation process
Hi negretlove! I have a few questions..

My sister will be released on 5/11 from the feds and will be released through TJ. Will she get the same options as the 1st 1-5? She is married so her last name changed so it will be different on from Birth certificate how will that effect her in TJ we did renew he CA ID a couple years ago will that work in TJ? Also how can she prove a bill when she has no MEX ID to get some kind of bill? sorry for the so many question and I have more just getting nervous for her when she gets out she never lived in MEX but I know she can do it if she was locked up in the Feds for 8yrs she can live anywhere...

yes she will be given the same options as above

she may need a copy of both her birth cert and marriage cert..if married in the US she may need to get it translated which can be done through a notary here in TJ. Ca ID is ok temporarily but she will need to get her IFE card as soon as possible if she will be a resident of Mexico. And the state/US ID cannot be used for a job or for any government reasons like medical ins and all that.

Also how can she prove a bill when she has no MEX ID to get some kind of bill?

When you rent a place the utilities always stay in the owners name...so the bill does not have to be in her name it is just used to show the address she is living at.

sorry for the so many question and I have more just getting nervous for her when she gets out she never lived in MEX but I know she can do it if she was locked up in the Feds for 8yrs she can live anywhere...

my hubby did 9 yrs state time and yes if they can make it through that they can make it through deportation. ask all you want sweetie that is what we are here for

Thanks Negretelove!!! I appreciate you taking time to answer.. So I'm thinking that it would be better for her to get a paper ID I'm assuming she will have some money on her to be able to make a phone call once she is in Tijuana if not she can just go visit an uncle we have over there pero el esta en la zona norte (la cahuilla) not to good of an area especially if she is by her self & a girl! She said that she don't know what time they will send her to TJ so we will wait until she calls us, we are just trying to prepare all her paper work so she can start to live her new life in a country she never lived in her son doesn't want to go live with her so she will be staying at a friends house until she can get on her own 2 feet her husband is also in prison but he has another 6 yrs left.. at least she is used to making little money while working at the prison but my sister is a mover and shaker so she will be fine plus she knows both languages real good

I got a question for my self!.. I just became a mexican citizen and would like to get an ID/license from Mexico. So I have a Mexican birth certificate and my cali ID so all I need is an address and money?

she will automatically be given the paper ID that is good for 30 days in that time she will need to get her IFE card (Mexican ID) she will also be given a free call so she should be ok when first getting here as long as someone is available to pick her up.

your cali ID means nothing here in Mx you will most likely have to go through the process of getting your IFE card as well before you can get your license. You need a car that is Nationalized (mexican plates) and the driving test is very simple.

well i got to experience the Emergency room for myself here in TJ.
I have to say I got very good care and the nurses and doctors were on their A~game

I went to the Cruz Roja there are many of them around and even though the place was busy they had me in a bed and with a doctor within 20 minutes. All of the doctors spoke english and most of the nurses did or at least tried.

They had me fixed up and out the door in about 2 hours because they wanted to finish the whole IV bag even though i was feeling better about half way through.

and the total bill a donation of $222pesos which is about $15us dollars

Just a little update we are still in Playas loving the beach and the weather...hubby dreads the days we have to drive into TJ because the heat is disgusting there.
Hubby is still working the same job and loving it!!!!

We are still in the same house and have added a new family member my rescue Pit Bull named KoKo she is so funny and is a great companion for our other Pit Bull Tyson

My husband was reunited with his son after 12yrs this past week and his son has decided once he graduates this yr from high school he is going to move to Playas and go to school in San Diego!!!!!

School is starting so we have decided to keep my oldest on home-schooling through the internet and the younger 2 will go to public school here in Playas!!!

I am going to try and get a job through an agency for home-health care in the San Diego area because I miss working...so crazy when hubby was in prison I told him I wanted to be a stay at home mom now that I have that I want to go back to work ...lol

Well I hope everyone is doing well and I hope to here some updates from everyone!!

Great to hear things are going so well for you and your family. You and your family are a true inspiration that you can beat the odds of a deportation
