Cobb man's alleged sex taping cited

An Austell man was arrested after he was accused of illegally taping his sexual encounters with more than 30 women, police said Tuesday.

Melvin Jelani Davis, 27, was arrested after a woman told detectives that Davis "sent her photos of the two of them in intimate situations that the female victim was unaware were being taken," said Cobb County police Cpl. Brody Staud.

Davis threatened to publish or e-mail four of the pictures if the woman did not stop talking about him, Detective Debbie Holland said in an arrest warrant.

The suspect was released on $10,000 bond after being charged with eavesdropping, a felony, and possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor. Detectives found videotapes of Davis with more than 30 women dating to 1999, Staud said.

COBB COUNTY

Woman accused of fraud caught in Pa.

A woman sought by authorities on charges of stealing more than $100,000 from an Athens doctor was arrested Monday in Harrisburg, Pa., police said. Lisa Frazier Rogers, 34, is accused of forging checks for more than $100,000 while working for the doctor, said Athens/Clarke County police Maj. Alan King. A private investigator, hired by the Athens doctor six months after forgery charges were filed against Rogers, tracked the woman to Pennsylvania, then identified her for local police by posing as a flower delivery man. Rogers was working at a federal government office under an assumed name when arrested.

Boy, 16, found dead near church ID'd

The 16-year-old whose body was found Sunday night near an Austell church has been identified as Irmanauve Matalbert of Austell, Cobb County police said Tuesday. A passer-by discovered the boy's body about 10 p.m. in the 3700 block of Floyd Road, in a grassy area between the road and the parking lot of Highest Praise Church of God. Cobb police Cpl. Brody Staud said investigators are not treating the Haitian teen's death as a homicide. An autopsy found no signs of trauma to the body, and authorities are awaiting toxicology and other lab tests to determine how the teen died.

GWINNETT COUNTY

Teacher surrenders on attack charges

A Lilburn Middle School teacher accused of placing a 15-year-old student in a chokehold has turned himself in to authorities. David Danziger, 51, turned himself in Monday afternoon under the name David Lebrun, said Stacey Kelley, Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman. School officials indicated they knew Danziger was changing his name but did not have paperwork stating that his name had been officially changed. Danziger, who could not be reached for comment, was charged with simple battery and released on $5,600 bond. He has been suspended, said Sloan Roach, schools spokeswoman.

ATLANTA

Alcohol linked to boy's death in fire

As his 5-year-old son, "Little Bobby," pleaded for help in an apartment fire early Sunday morning that would take his life, Bobby J. Fredrick was drunk, according to the arrest warrant. "The accused had been drinking and left the children alone in the apartment," according to a document in Fulton County Superior Court. The 38-year-old Atlanta man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct. Fire officials ruled that he accidentally started the blaze when he left the stove unattended while trying to cook.
