As usual, another fight, plus the SHU is full from what I heard. But they were up for 3 weeks on a positive note.

Ahhhh, ok. Thanks for the information. I hope they're not down for too long. They may need to expand the SHU, build onto it or something. It's crazy that it stays that full so much and that anyone would want to keep being sent to it. But I agree, I'm very thankful for the 3 weeks they were out, I just hope to see more of that and longer.

I really don't know, when I was there Saturday, they were back on modified until Tuesday or Wednesday, when a bus leaves? I think, don't quote me.

I heard from my loved one today via phone. So I'm guessing like it's stated above they're on modified LD. I didn't even ask. I was just glad to hear from them.

Has anyone heard from their man today? My husband emailed me earlier this morning however I haven't heard from him since noon today.

Also, the mail room as many know has made many changes. I am drawing up a letter to send to the mailroom as well as the director regarding the mail changes and delays... along with that letter I'll be writing the director regarding visitation. The visits this past weekend was cut short both days by 20 minutes. Hopefully you ladies do the same.

I haven't heard anything since this morning, so I'm trying to figure out what's going on also.

If anyone is interested in sending a copy to the acting warden at USP Lee:
Email: lee/execassistant~@bop.gov

Dear Sirs,

I’m contacting you regarding the new mail procedures that have recently been put into effect at USP Lee. All incoming general correspondence, including personal photographs, will be photocopied and the inmate will be provided only the photocopies. This memo mentions that staff are not responsible for correspondence that photocopies poorly, so who is? This is not only a setback to families but inmates as well. General correspondence sent to my husband specifically whom is incarcerated at your facility is sent to encourage, to send love, to show photos of family and friends, to share case laws recently decided and pending to assist with appeals and legal matters. Due to the nature of USP Lee mailroom making these changes it delays all of the above. Sometimes it takes over a week for my husband to receive mail that’s delivered within three days. What happens when the cost for ink becomes a burden to the pockets of BOP? USP Lee mailroom already has constraints and delays as it is without these new procedures, what happens if a copier breaks and mail is not able to be copied and delivered in a timely manner? I’m fully aware the purpose of the changes to stop or ban certain security matters for the facility however the continued banning of positive and healthy general correspondence (ie: greeting cards from family and friends and/or actual photos of family and friends) is disheartening and dispiriting for the inmate as these are important matters that not only encourage them being away from family and friends but helps with reducing recidivism.

I am kindly requesting for these matters to be looked into. I have reached out to the mailroom multiple times, to no avail. Ultimately, who is in charge of putting these mail procedures into effect? I’m sure myself and other families of inmates located at your facility have the same concerns I have. Please refer me to whom I can reach out to regarding this important matter.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I recommend asking the prisoner first, since retaliation is ingrained in the bop's DNA. He will be the one who is punished. "Complainers" always face retaliation from the staff, not only there, but it is also made part of his inmate paperwork file that follows everywhere he goes.

Thanks for this because I never thought about things in that way. We just reconnected over recent months, so this is good for me to keep in mind.

Hello,
Thank you for your feedback. No names have to be included as we are all aware the way the BOP works. If anyone's interested there's an article online by the new BOP director that indicates she's trying to stop all incoming correspondence and have all mail scanned in electronically and then the inmate may receive it that way. First greeting cards then pictures on actual photo paper <-- all idlybeing positive items for inmates that are away from family. These new changes are just the beginning if no one stands up and speaks out. Standing by idly doesn't help them either especially when we can do so much all together rather than just all kicking and speaking about it. Actions must be taken. Thanks again for your feedback.

Whenever I think there is nothing left for the bop to take away, they find new ones. The only things that are somewhat safe are those that make them lots of money/commissions, but even they aren't always safe from the zealots.

Mine said yesterday they were locking down. I dont see anything on the USP Lee website so I'm betting theirs certain units locked down and certain ones that aren't.
