Default Federal judge orders FL to treat all Hep C cases.

The federal judge who previously ordered Florida DOC to treat Hepatitis C infected inmates, although giving them enough wiggle room to have his order ignored, apparently got angry enough to put an end to that avoidance. The new order says Florida's prison officials have been “deliberately indifferent” in caring for thousands of inmates infected with the virus and ordered them to treat everyone diagnosed with the disease with the expensive, but available, viral protein inhibitor medicines.

My man has HEP C in a Colorado prison. Wish a judge would decide that here.

In my opinion, money is only an issue when it suits the bop, especially when it might be spent on their prisoner's healthcare.

Maybe they could delay building the next new half-billion dollar prison, or buying another one from a State, like AUSP Thomson. "
https://www.counterpunch.org/2015/01...ax-supersized/

"Once Thomson was purchased (for 165 million dollars), the Bureau of Prisons still required a steady stream of funds to activate it, and Senator Durbin and Representative Bustos have advocated aggressively in Congress for the money. In FY2014, the facility received $43.7 million for equipment and staffing, and an additional $10 million for renovations. And the prison is set to receive an additional $58.7 million from the FY2015 Omnibus Appropriations bill passed in December."

Then add FY 2016, 7, 8 and 9 activation costs, plus the annual prison operation costs of more than 50 Million dollars per year for that one prison.
