Hi ladies! My bf is coming home in 15 days and i have a few questions: How long is the drive from LA to Delano during this weather? From what i've read you have to be there between 6.30 to 7 and i really dont want to be late. Do they only ask for an i.d? Is there a dress code? Any other information that i should know would be greatly appreciated.

One more question: I was told to check in at visiting once i got there but i've never turned in a visiting form. Am i still allowed to pick him up? Does checking in just mean that they will notify him that I'm there to pick him up???? This is sooo confusing, i'm new to this and i'm so nervous.

During this weather and being careful it can take 2-3 hours. As far as what time I'm not sure....not lucky enough to be released yet. Call R&R at the prison and you should be able to get all the information you need. You do not need to be approved to to pick him up and there isn't a dress code since you are not visiting. Congratulations and good luck!!

(661) 721-2345 Like ALWAYS stated, call R&R, they will give you the exact check in procedure & place for his pick-up/release.

Congrats!

I was also curious if anyone knows how the whole process goes in there. For example, do they get placed somewhere else a few days before or are they still with the regular population? Do they get to use the phone before leaving?......just wondering.

If he is in reception he can't use the phone and you should call the prison and ask about his dress out clothes

He should have received a slip saying the prison received them. Call R&R & ask if they have his dress outs.

Hi, I'm trying to find out how the inmate release procedures work at Kern. I have a friend who's son is soon to be released (this month), and what happens if there is no one available to pick him up? Also, she heard he was recently put in the hole, would this effect his release date? Thank yo for your help. My son is at Ironwood, not too bad as I hear as far as prisons go. Thank you Kern!

Him being in the hole may affect his release date depending on if he received a 115 & the circumstances around it.

Can the prison (661) 721-2345 R & R dept. for exact release procedures

Yes they release them on Sundays. You might try calling Greyhound to find out what time the bus leaves from Delano & gets to wherever he's going.
