Default Not getting his mail - Robertson County Jail

My inmate has sent several letters which I have not received over the last 2 weeks.

I am the victim in the case... He was concerned that mail addressed to me would not be sent. He addressed the mail to another name at my PO Box, which is not an address on file for me at all. Apparently the mail has been held because he sent it as "legal mail." I don't know what that even means... I'm am not sure how to proceed to get my letters.

He told me to call the jail, identify myself as the addressee, and tell them to send my letters, but I would like a second opinion.

If you are his victim, and if there is a no contact order, well, they can hold the letters. One cannot violate an NCO without getting into more trouble.

We talk on the phone. Also the mail was not addressed to me so they would not know that it was for me. It was addressed to a singer that we both like and going to a post office box that I got specifically for this purpose of receiving mail from him.

He says the mail was held because it was addressed to a post office box send as legal mail and then they verify that it was not a lawyer's office or something like that. Is there a way for me to still get that mail? I want to know what he has to say to me.

Circumventing the rules can and will get both of you into trouble. More trouble for him. That goes for phone calls as well as mail.

So, just abandon the mail? He does have a no contact OP but I am not enforcing it at least not right now. I want to hear from him. The truth is I miss him bitterly.

Why did he mark it as legal mail? I would ask him to rewrite the letter and send it without saying it's legal mail.

You can’t choose not to enforce a NCO. It’s in place due to his crime against you and your son. Even if it was requested by you you can’t just decide when and when not to enforce it.

I would assume he sent it as legal mail so that the letter would be read. I wouldn’t be surprised if the PO Box ends up on his lists of addresses he won’t be allowed to send mail to.

Don't be surprised if you are charged with contempt of court.
