Question Home placement question parole officer visit two months early.

Hello everyone! My husband was sentenced to two years in May this year. His parole eligibility date is September 13th of this year. Last Thursday two probation and parole officers came by our house for home placement check. Is it normal to do a home placement check two months prior to eligibility date or could it mean approval or maybe even early release due to overcrowding? Or is it just standard? I didn't think they did home placement checks this soon. Thanks everyone.

If his parole eligibility date is Sept. 13, its possible that he's either seen the Board or his File Review is complete. Those are mandated to be done 60 days before the eligibility date. Either way, he had to have submitted the paperwork for Home Placement for the PO to do a Home Check.

I've had 3 home checks over the years and none were ever this early. Usually that happens closer to release if granted parole. The exact timing of home inspection does vary depending on the PO's caseload, but normally the inmate at least knows he's been approved for release.

BTW: If granted parole, his release date should be Sept. 1st ....oh hell, that's a Saturday So, release Monday Sept. 3rd. OMG! That's Labor Day!

Oh sass!!!!!! What happens now? Release the Friday before? Or make 'em wait till Tuesday, Sept.4th??

Thank you for responding! He was convicted of two class D felonies. This is his first time in jail and we are in the dark about everything, its very scary. I have researched everywhere for home placement checks and timing and I haven't seen them do checks this early. On the kool website it says still no parole information available and he hasn't heard anything. I'm so scared. We have been together since we were kids and now have three children, this is the longest we've been apart. I am just hoping the visit was good news. The rumors around the detention center is that there is going to be another big early release for Kentucky.

Most likely the day after Labor Day. But then again, who knows really? I mean, I've seen them recently release the same day as approval, or very shortly thereafter.

Just a little update. I called the parole board and the receptionist said my husbands home release and home placement was complete. She said he had his review and to call back in a few days. I called back today and a different lady told me he would have a hearing sometime within the first few weeks of September?? His PE date is Sept 13th and he is a class D, I thought there wouldn't be a hearing? I'm a little confused.

I've just taken a look at the September Parole Eligibility List, the inmates with a PE date of September are in county jails & the ones with a PE date of November are in prisons. I had not realized that before and thought all inmates were reviewed or had hearings 60 days before their PE date

Look at the list I linked above, see if your husband is on it......

He is on the September list. Someone gave me the number of his parole/probation officer to ask about release plan and home placement. I talked with her and she said his home placement/plan was in place and ready, but she didn't see where he had a review. I'm so confused.
