I've been wondering the same thing as Caligirl. Even though it's Facility C, is it always referred to as "T" yard and not "C" yard? I think that's why I was so confused when my son first arrived there.

When my fiancé arrived I never knew it to be C, it was always referenced as T yard or Tuolumne. But I also found out from him directly, might have even waited for mail from him which showed "T"
Sorry you had such confusion.

Thank you for responding. I did finally learn that the yard is "T" and that the facility is "C". This was our first time dealing with yards so I was a little confused. I've never had a "T" in his return address. It always comes as C plus the bldg. and cell #. Well, anyway, at least I get the difference now. Thanks for your help - I appreciate it!

I was a long time resident at SCC on T yard. Couple things. Mail can take a little while to reach us at worst possibly 10days I know it is frustrating but compared to other penitentiaries it's not bad .san quentin it takes 3 to 6 weeks if it gets to us at all. As far as visitation goes the CO are rather lax as long as there is not tons of people waiting you should get your full visit provided you follow conduct rules. upon greeting your loved one a quick hug and kiss is permitted you can take photos with you loved one "an inmate will make his rounds with a camera " there are several vending machines to purchase drinks and food items as well. Now I have been to other penitentiaries with much more liberties but also been to one's much more strict just follow the rules and enjoy your visit

The yard system at SCC is unique there are 3yards in total C yard(Calaveras ) M yard (maraposa ) and T yard (Tuolumne ) C&m are level one and two firecamps where T yard is level 3 cell blocks t yard has flipped and is now SNY except for T 3 which is ADSEG "the hole" which house all class convicts the are being segregated
