Default Are there any rules about sending Hardcover Books?

Hello.

I am aware of the approved vendor list. However, I was wondering if they had any rules about sending hardcover books? The particular book I was wanting to send only comes in hardcover, and I didn't know if that mattered or not.

Thanks!

I don't believe they are allowed to have hard covered books. I think they could be used as weapons or something like that. I'm sure someone else with a definitive answer will come along and provide you the complete and correct answer.

The only way my Husband can receive hardcover books is if the Hard Part is not on there but I'm not sure if that goes for all Prisons

I thought that they couldn't, but my BF told me that he couldn't receive hard covered books when he was in the hole - but now that he's not (he also transferred), he can. So it may depend on the prison.

You need to call the facility that he is in and ask for the mail room and ask them. Some allow hard covered books and some do not because I have sent some in the past and they allowed them. They must be new though and sent directly from the company.

I have never had a problem sending hardcover books to my husband. I think he prefers soft covers though because they are easier to pack up if he has to move.

He did ask his counselor. She said they are allowed to have hard cover books at Parnall. However, just to make sure I will take some advise and ask the mail room myself.
