Hello,

Quick question...to bring his lilttle brother (who is 10 to visit), other than a certified copy of his birth certificate and a notarized letter from his mother stating that I have her permission to bring him to see his brother, what else do I need? Does he need to have a school i.d.?

Also, is there a certain (form) letter that a need to get notarized? Grrrr and I was just there yesterday and could have asked on my way out *smh*

Thanks in advance.

Hey love there is a form that you have to fill out and have the mother to authorize and sign. They should be in the visitors processing office. Once you do that and have the birth certificate you should be good to go

Default Which is better

Good Morning,

My question is somewhat visit-related. The winter chit-chat thread is closed, so I'ma just put my question here.

Which hotel is better? The Calipatria Inn & Suites or the Brawley Inn and do either give discounts if you visit at the prison?

Thanks!

YNG

I stayed at both. The calipatria inn is nice and right around the way from the prison. You can order dinner in or you can always drive to brawley and grab dinner. I mostly stay in Elcentro at the Howard johnson inn its cool and everything is local there. We were at Centinela so I'm use to thse hotels. Just my three cents. I never had a discount at Calipatria Inn or Brawley.

Thank you! I'm going to have a 10-year old with me so I need to find something to do after visiting on Saturday and I'm thinking that there is probably more for us to do in El Centro versus Calipatria/Brawley.

Good Morning,

You know as far as the dress code goes, (from what I've seen) you can pretty much wear any color - navy blue, orage, green, white, royal blue - they are cracking down on showing cleavage and how tight the clothes are - especially pants. No blue jeans or blue chambray (color shirts the inmates wear) and they say no tan shirts/green pants like the CO's wear....It's really subjective sometimes, because I've seen females get in with shorts on that were almost mid thigh, but they say something about dresses that are more than 2 inches above the knee If you've visited at ISP...dresscode is pretty much the same...I just would stay away from pants that are too tight/form fitting and you should be fine.

Good Luck!

On one of my recent visits I wore one of my usual prison jeans..they wouldnt let me in because apparently they were too tight. Mind that I've worn them before & I was let in without a problem. The CO (a female i'd never seen) mentioned that if my shirt was a little longer I could probably go in. So my guess is they dont want any lower area form showing. I changed in to some yoga work out pants & that was ok for them..smh!! You'll never know in what kind of mood they will be in. It sucks, now I take extra extra clothes.. Good luck!

Sweats will probaby work for your first time, if you dont want any set backs. You can look around and get an idea of what you can and cannot wear. Sometimes you'll notice a person comes dressed a certain way and then a while later you notice they've changed....outfit wasnt approved. Its frustrating sometimes though, cuz you just never know in what kind of mood the CO will be in. One day you'll go in without a problem. Lets say you wear the same outfit for another visit, they might not let you in..i think it just really depends on their mood. The extensions should be ok. Your bra cannot have wires, they will make you take them out. No blue jeans! If you plan on wearing no sleeve shirts for the summer, your straps cannot be thinner than 2 inches. $50 for vending machine, in singles preferably. You can bring a see thru clear zip bag (at walmart for $5 in the make up area) just to put ur money and ID inside. Picture tokens are $2 each. This is just some basic stuff, hope it helps you on something. We've been at CAL for a year and I'm still new at this. Good luck! And I hope you have a great visit! also I just got word that CAL will be starting the vpass appointment online but for now its by email..

Hey Joanna it wasnt the regular escorts this past weekend. I noticed that too. But they were cool. They let me talk to my husband when they were driving in the van. Telling me to walk to the other side to talk to him. Hopefully next weekend is longer.
