Soo I have a question.. Is GTL starting to charge a fee everytime you put money on your account? I know they charge a start up fee with u first make an account, but lately they have been charging me like 7 dollars everytime I add money to the account.. SO I was just wondering if this was happening to other ppl..

Could he be in susanville(that is the minimum security prison next door). Although High Desert has a level 1 yard, it used to be E Yard. Hope that helps.

Hi , I'm new to high desert and plan on visiting once a month. I'm near Sacramento. Can someone tell me what highway 395 is like? I know it's an 84 mile drive on that road and I have kids, so would like a little insight. Thank you for any information. Also, can the guys do correspondence college classes there? I've tried calling the counselor but can't get through.

Yes they can take college correspondence classes here. Higway 395 is a lot of desert and mountain roads. Its not too bad but not a lot of places to stop. I come from Southern California on 395 so not sure how it is coming from your area. Hope this helps. Good luck

My man just left the SHU at Corcoran, but it stands for Segregated Housing Unit. In this unit my man was on lockdown 23 hours a day. No phone calls and visits were only permitted behind glass. (No contact) Every time they are moved out of the cell they are shackled by the hands and feet. Two offices with each inmate every time. Most inmates in this unit have been validated. As far as reception or orientation, I know orientation is when the inmate first arrives to a new facility this is the process it takes to completely transfer the inmate. Typically this takes about two weeks, however it can very, depending on how fast staff operate at the facility, and reception I believe is the same thing. I hope this information helps

During the day its not too bad but its a little scary at night. There wasnt too much snow when I went but sometimes chains are required.

Do they do walk up visiting without an appointment? I was wandering if I arrived there around noon or 1 can I just walk up and visit? Most facilities I've been to can but this one seems a little different.

Hi everyone, I am new here and I hope I'm posting in the right place. I have a pen pal at High Desert State Prison and I am looking to connect with anyone who has a pen pal or loved one there. I have been reading here for awhile and it is a place for love and support like no other

Hubby is out of orientation, but because of lockdown, he hasn't received mail yet. He stated in one of his letters that he is missing pages 1-25 of the orientation manual and no one seems to know where to find a complete copy. Does anyone know who he contacts to try to get a copy? I was trying to find it online, with no luck.
