Just got home from a visit and yes, there is a baton missing. They've heard Monday or Tuesday it might be lifted or it could be at the end of the week. .they have to wait for the Warden to get back to do that. I guess the CO's get paid more when they're under lockdown. Just what I heard.

Default Missing Baton

I wonder if the C/O who lost the baton will be reprimanded??? Seriously...how do you misplace a baton? Aren't they attached to their belt? And I can't imagine an inmate being able to remove it from a C/O without getting caught in the act. And we are the ones who suffer - their job gets easier. When the guys are all locked in they probably don't need as many staff so some of them probably got to take a few days vacation - just in time for the holidays. How convenient.
Hope the warden isn't on vacation till after the first of the year. And even if he is, can't he just make a phone call and lift the lock down?

My thoughts exactly. It sucks but we just have to sit and wait. I'm hoping to visit on New Year's Day. And hope I can talk to him before that. It's ridiculous that something so big would just be missing and it not be because it was misplaced by an officer. If an inmate had it, they would know especially by now

I don't know how many stories are going around there but my lo said he heard that they have a camera in yard c and that it showed someone bending down and picking something up...for what ever that's worth....or even part true??? And the co is still on duty.

And I believe the Warden is to be back this week.

Yes, as of today they are still on LD. Should be lifted sometime this week.

I know that they aren't able to receive their packages, but I'm kinda sure that they can send mail out...not certain though.

I hope you hear from him soon!

Okay Thank God I finally found some answers I was so worried that something happen to my husband about ready to go down to vsp. He just moved there and all i have to say is it's the first time I ever heard fighting in the back round and officers telling him to get down. This location sounds like trouble to me. Thank you all for your answers i feel better now. Merry Christmas and happy Holidays

Default Lock down over

I got a quick call. Not sure if this is the real story (we all know how rumors go around), but my friend said he heard that a female C/O on the overnight shift went "potty", in a locked staff bathroom, and somehow managed to lose her baton. How can that happen??? The inmates obviously don't go in there so none of them could have taken it. And aren't they clipped to the utility belts they wear - why would she have taken it off?? (Naughty thoughts are the only thing running through my head on that one lol)
I'm just glad it's over, I will get a real (15 minute) call in the morning and then go visit on Wednesday - I can't wait

Unhappy Possible Lock Down

I wish I had gotten my facts straight, but we only had 2 minutes for the phone tonight so I'm not for sure on the details. But my son told me tonight that they might be on lock down tomorrow due to something about the power??? He wasn't even for sure though; but I thought I'd put it out there just in case. And then again on Friday because everyone was getting, I think he said, a TB test or some kind of a shot. Again, I'm not for sure, but if you don't hear from your LO, then y'all will at least know it wasn't due to anything they did.

Well they were only on lock down for a short while today. And tomorrow they are having their TB shots...so however long that will last~who knows! And no Jessica, that shouldn't affect the visiting for this weekend. : )

Default Level and Yards at VSP

Hello,

Can anyone help out and inform me as to what level VSP is and what kind of yards are at the prison. Specifically SNY.
Is it dorm like setting, too?

I realize my inquiry might not generate a lot of replies but if anyone knows please PM me. I'm just working on trying to get my lo closer to home.

Thank you,

MM

Sny level 2 mostly eight man pods with showers in the rooms... there are some two man cells I believe but mainly eight man rooms. Pretty laid back from what my man says. Hard to get a job there but medical seems okay. Not sure what All you want to know.
