Default Girlfriend in jail for 90 days, I want her to quit smoking

Hi there,

So, my girlfriend was just sentenced to 180 days in Elkhart County for a DUI while on probation (probation violation).

Anyway, I absolutely hate the fact that she smokes. It's disgusting, and she can't afford it. She has said that she wants to quit, but 'is not ready'.

She has been in for two weeks. She says on her phone calls that the very first thing that she wants when she gets out is a cigarette. I am thinking WTF? If she can go without smoking for 90 days, why can't she just quit?

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

I am with you on that one it is so bad for their health. In some programs they do offer getting them the nicotine patch. Give her some time she may change on her own. My husband actually had gotten down to two cigarettes a day. And once he went in to prison he had to stop. And it really doesn't bother him anymore. Best wishes to you.
Also some do say cigarettes give them a chance to get over the hard times.I have to say at one time or another and my husband was trying to recover I have actually gone to the store and handed him a pack of cigarettes to leave me alone.
