Default Stopped reporting to parole

My ex husband did time and was paroled in PA. His parole was transferred to NY. When he had only 3 more months left until he was done with parole, he stopped reporting (drugs). I suppose it went back to PA because that's where a warrant was issued from. He got picked up today. What usually lands up happening in this type of situation?

I know in New York, in this type of situation, he would owe them 3 months and that's the maximum time they would be able to give him, considering he didn't receive new charges. I'm told it's totally different in PA.

Pennsylvania will decide what happens to him.

His failure to report is actually a violation of his PA parole, so the PA Board of Probation & Parole (PBPP) will decide what happens. They may bring him back to PA for resolution or they might decide to let him remain in NY. A lot will depend on his past behavior on parole and any additional violations (beyond the failure to report).

Unless he has committed a new crime, the Board's sanction is limited to making him max-out whatever time remained on his parole, which you believe is around 3 months. If they had declared him an absconder, then the time he was "missing" does not count towards his parole and he owes it to them.
Justice and compassion don't have to be exclusive.
