Default Can Federal inmates receive greeting cards?

Just curious if inmates are allowed to receive greeting cards and what the restrictions are. He is in federal prison in Miami. Also do you know if they are in the camp can the receive books directly from me instead of the bookstore. Pretty sure with minimum security they can but just want to make sure. Any other guidelines for mailing things is appreciated. Thanks 🤗

When I was in bop custody, paperback books could be mailed directly from home to low and minimum security prisoners. Hardback books had to come from a bookstore or from the publisher. Greeting cards were also OK. I doubt that either rule has been changed.

I may be wrong but I believe that is a "prison to prison" rule. My friend was able to receive greeting cards where he was (medium security) but no greeting cards at the low security he was transferred to.

Where my lo is in the feds they don’t allow cards anymore due to the spice being sprayed and smoked on the cards. It’s white writing paper only. Not sure if that’s all over usp’s tho

Yes, it varies from prison to prison. You can sign into the prison websites to find specifics.

My guy can receive books from stores, booksellers, Amazon, etc. He hasn't had a problem receiving cards as long as they came in a white envelope. Also white paper for letters; I sent off white once since it was in a notebook and it was returned. He isn't allowed to have crayons or markers on our daughter's drawings so she either does them in pencil or I take a picture of it and mail it so that he can still have some color... I'd definitely check with his particular facility to see what they say.
