Haven't been since December and things change, but black jeans should be fine provided they don't set off the metal detector. And don't wear a red top with them (no red on top, black on the bottom at all). Definitely bring a few changes of clothes.

They are very picky about dress code and processing is kind of slow. Visiting is from 8am-2:30pm unless you've got a glass visit, then it's...1hr? 2hr? (<-- someone help me out here, lol). They do terminate visits early when overcrowded.

Thanks so much, he just got there and I'm reading all these comments like let's transfer asap.

How's the vending machines, are they always full. How are the Co's?

How long do they usually stay on lockdown, the yard he was placed on is on lockdown.

Depends on the yard for pretty much all of those questions.
Lockdowns can be fairly long depending on the incident and can be lifted as late as Friday evening as far as affecting visitation. So if you travel far, be sure to check the visiting hotline or have a yard buddy who can let you know. Do not rely on VPASS as it is not always updated on time.

They usually re-fill the vending machines 2-3 times if you are there the entire time. The photo machine/ducats works intermittently, so I have found that it is best to get enough for several visits. There is a new CO in the visiting room that is great... makes up for the 'really' slow processing and the attitude of several of the processing CO's.

Black bottoms should be ok as long as they go through the detector (no red top like mentioned), they can be strict on fit, anything that looks like a legging is a no, and I have had to change conservative dresses that I wear to church!

Also... twice out of the 6 times I have visited they have actually counted my money, so keep that in mind! And I am guessing they didn't bother the first time because I brought quarters, lol!

I have a questions hoping I can get some help. A while back there was a post on booking an appointment for another person. I would book appointments for my friend on my account some times because she would have so much trouble trying to get her apt. through VPass. It wasnít any problem but if I remember someone posted that this had changed, that you couldnít book an appointment for someone else. Does anyone have any info on that and/or are they still enforcing it. Thank you in advance for any help

As far as I know this is specific to KVSP, but if I understand your question correctly....

You can book an appt. for your friend but you have to go the same day. In other words, you can book an appt. for you and for her, but if you cancel she can't go. Now she can cancel and you can still go, but not the other way around. They want the primary acct. holder to be there.

It makes no sense to me especially since transferring to another facility where things are done differently. VPASS has no official identity verification so requiring the primary account holder to be there is definitely not a security measure. It's basically Person A holding X number of appt. times. Who cares who made them? But that's my two cents. :/

Also, this may be one of those rules that was implemented but not enforced. If anyone has experience with that, I'd be interested in hearing. (and I miss you all!!)

New to Prison visiting. I am worried about the dress code. But these are the outfits I have;
Wide leg white pants with a longline T of navy and white strips
Magenta skirt (thick material, ankle length) with a white cotton close knit jumper
Black wide leg pants with purple kaftan top
Suitable?

It's been a minute since I've visited here so someone correct me if I'm wrong...

The white pants, just make sure you can't see through them at all. They're harsh about anything they thing they can see light through.
Wear a slip under your skirt (again, it's a light issue).
Members-- can we wear solid white tops? I know no solid white tee's, but if it's a sweater(jumper)?
The black pants and purple top sound perfect.

The biggest things I can remember them having an issue with is form fitting clothes, anything that they think they can see light through or the outline of your underclothes, metal in your clothing that will set off the detector and prohibited colors.

I know you want to look beautiful (and you will!) but save yourself a headache by putting a pair of loose black sweat pants and a plain solid color tee in your car...better to have them and not need them.
