SAN QUENTIN — Over the past 30 days, California’s oldest prison has gone from having zero coronavirus cases to being on fast track to becoming the most infected prison in the state system.
According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s COVID-19 tracker — which is updated in real time and rapidly increasing — there are now more than 300 active cases in San Quentin. This is a sixfold increase from eight days ago, when there were 48 reported cases in the prison.
Apparently California's prison administrators moved busloads of positive (and untested) inmates from Chino and other hot spot prisons to San Quentin. Despite warnings, the decision changed SQ from experiencing a relatively minor covid 19 problem, to now becoming "COVID-19 cases are skyrocketing in San Quentin, Corcoran prisons"
Im so sorry Sharonno......I hope he has a mild case and recovers quickly.
My hub was in SQ reception (and mostly locked down everyday) It was the worst part for him.
It boggles the mind they transferred all these guys. It really does.

They're supposed to be releasing people with less then 180 days left who are nonviolent offenders, have a history of DV and not required to register as a sex offender. They say it will start on the 1st. But I'm not sure how it's going to work. My man has 140 days left crime is not considered violent but I dnt know what's going to happen. Also I seen somewhere that SQ is trying to release 80 people before the 1st.
A friend of mine on the row wrote to me that it's bad in there and all they have to fight it is aspirin. He tells me there are hundreds of really sick guys in there. I sure hope they get this under control and quick.
