There were never any real problems in the visitation room at F.C.I Beaumont (Medium).. Usually everyone is on their best behavior. Just follow the visitation rules and there won't be any problems at all.

I don't remember all of them but you can call the prison or look it up on the www.bop.gov website. There are clothing restrictions, and they may have the ion scanner (drug sniffer) there again..

Other than that, it is pretty laid back.. Nothing to sweat or worry about.

I hate to hear all the bad things about Beaumont. I have not been there yet, but I guess I was fooling myself that is wasnt that bad. Sorry to hear your loved one is having a hard time.

Are the visits face to face? Are we allowed contact? How long can we visit?

All visits when I was there were full contact. Even if you were in segregation, they were contact = not behind glass.

As for how long.. From the time you get there until visitation is over. Check with the prison for visitation times.

Bunch2love, you can ask MelissaTX, she went to see her hubby today. She will know all the new rules with visitation. Our son is in low, and just the 3 months we have been visiting him, they change it every month. Just when you think you got BOP figured out. Boom. they hit ya with a new rule. Hope this helps.

Hey Mellissa,

I am fixing to make my first visit to Medium. How is the wait and what time should I arrive on a sat to get a good visit in? I live in Sulpur, LA. So the drive is not bad. Where are you?

Ok, excuse my ignorance... but what is BOP? And how do I know what his unit is--medium or low?

Hi guys! I got back yesterday but PTO was down We had 2 GREAT visits. It was MUCH better than TDC! The first day (Friday) they were locked down because of very heavy fog. We finally got back to the visitation room about 12:20pm. The second day (Saturday) we were able to get in by 9:15am. We visited until 3pm. Visits were very laid back, There were games the inmates could check out for the kids to play. Hubby and daughter played Jenga, Checkers, Uno, and Connect 4. The vending machines are quite expensive. A salad cost $4.50, 1 hot pocket was $2.50, a pk of 4 hot tamles was $5. Sodas and bottle water was $1. Bottled juice is $1.75.
You are able to hold hands during visits but hands must remain in clear sight. There were inmates with their arms around their wives the hole time tho'. There is a kids room with a tv set on cartoons. Inmates are not allowed in the room. All and all the guards are pretty laid back. I was told the regular lady who works the front desk was off for the 2 days I was there. Everyone said shes pretty tough, about what gets threw, ie: types of clothes, shoes, and extra money.
I have a copy of the new visiting rules and regulations and commissary list if anyone wants. I will try and figure out how to post it here.

They arent using the ion scanner there.
Hubby said the prison is what you make it. He said the only problem he is having is the guards. He said they dont even know their own rules. And that most of the "bad guys" as he calls them are off the unit.

i really hate that all the guys have to pay for the mistake of two or three but such is the prison life...how many points away is he from being moved to the medium?
Im not sure on the points, I think he said he had 19 points. Because he has 3 detainers. 1 here in Rusk Co, for his probation ( should of been dropped when he was sentenced to BOP) 1 from Fl that is over 16yrs old. His PD in FL said there was nothing FL could do b/c the charge is so old, and that it should be dropped also. and 1 from Nac. Co the charge that was handed to the Feds. Felon in Poss. of a firearm. I have to get off my lazy rear end and get all of this taken care of!
Yeah I told my MIL "if they are on lockdown when we get there, I will someway somehow find out every guy in there and write each and everyone of them and tell them GROW UP! You are ruining it for everyone else!"

Hi Melissa
I too was there Friday and Saturday at the Medium and
I talked to so many people because of the wait we had.
I live in Ft Worth but its normally not that bad when the
lady is at the front desk we get in alot quicker but she's more
strict because that is her main function the gentleman in the
front was super nice she is not that nice but she is fast, so happy
you enjoyed your visit.
