Default Letter Inhumane

So excited to recieve letter from grandson! Sounded and said he was well. But NO hot meals since lockdown! Only plan to let out one more time for hour to email, call, shower. No commissary. Only 12 cells at a time out. Over crowding they basically locking whole compound till they can sort it all out. There is no fighting, has been a hunger strike, to no avail. They have been threatend with shake downs if they continue to protest.

I have been very sick but I'm amazed there hasn't been any post since middle of May. Is it cuz they are off lockdown? Is there a good time to call this place to get someone to answer?

Hey, it's rumored that they'll be down for two weeks.
Should be over soon.

Received letter mailed 26th, said they spoke about the Lockdown could last as long as 4 weeks.

But all this speculation doesn't lead anywhere, gotta be patient. I have a feeling they'll be back soon and if not....well, lockdowns are also done for THEIR safety, I'm fine with it.
Hang in there!

Are they still on lockdown? Are there stages when returning back to normal?

The "visits cancelled until further notice" banner, which usually signals a lockdown, is only posted on the fci Medium prison web page, not the fci Low or on the USP.
https://www.bop.gov/locations/institutions/bmm/

Lockdowns sometimes are lifted in stages over a couple of days by letting inmates out of their cells for short periods at first.

I've also been told they are/should be back to normal this weekend, it seems they are. Banner on website is down. I receive emails throughout the day...must be off LD fully now.

Default FCI Beaumont - Low

Does anyone know why Beaumont is on lockdown. Was there a riot, if so how would you know if your loved one was hurt.

Welcome to Prison Talk. Beaumont has frequent lockdowns, for all sorts of reasons. bop staff will almost never provide answers to family members, so they have to come from the inmates, usually in a letter, or phone/email after the lockdown is over.

I had an agreement with another prisoner to notify my family in the case of anything serious happening to me. Since the bop also will not notify families about outside hospitalizations, that was the only way they knew that I was in a real hospital for over a month. When I asked my counselor why, she replied that they would have been notified if I died.

Hi guys. My husband is at FCI Beaumont Low and so is my brother in law. There was a riot last week between a specific group and the CO'S. As a result there are dead CO'S as well as dead inmates. At least 20 inmates have been taken as well. I'm not 100% sure but from what my husband and brother in law explained it had to do with drugs and contraband found. I hope your relatives are all safe. Much blessings to all. They said they might be allowed to communicate through Corrlinks and phones by tomorrow or Wednesday.

The prison would call the closest relative on his list to let them know if your loved one was hurt. My husband was badly hurt when he was in medium and they notified his mom right away. Best of luck.
