Is this an issue related to immigration? You really never can tell where a person is going to do their time. You can make a request, but the powers that be will put them where they have space, and it may not necessarily be close to home.

When they arrested my husband they refused to tell me what jail he was in.... They can only give that info to a lawyer so I had a lawyer look for him.... If you can have a lawyer look for him. My husband was in Eloy and they had visitation on Saturdays and Sundays but your husband will have to give them your information before you are authorized to go see him... They run a background check and etc on you.... It took a week for them to apporve me and then when you go if you get there early you can spend 2 hours with him..... Thats what I had to do and my husband was in Eloy Im guessing it would be the same as in the other jails

https://locator.ice.gov/odls/homePage.do

http://www.bop.gov/inmate_locator/index.jsp

these 2 links should help you locate where your loved one is located. They cannot keep his whereabouts from you. Facilities can be picky about info they give out. Once he/she has been assigned a counselor it is up to the counselor as to what info they will release.

as far as hardships and picking where the LO wants to be Federal does not give much thought or care on the wants of an inmate. Once he/she is placed it is best if they ask the counselor if there is a hardship packet and what needs to be done to get transferred.

welcome to the immigration forum there are lots of us in different stages of the deportation process so if you have any questions or need support we are here

Question where will he do his time?

Thanks for everyone's quick replies. @life traveler not to sound ignorant but. Not sure at this point. Ill explain, my husband was sentenced June 4th to 2years w/65% ?? He had. More than Half dozen previous illegal reentry charges and some violence charges. But when he was released last. Time june2011 prison didnt list ice picked him up so it shows he was released in Arizona. Therefore he was only on supervised hold when they caught him in april2012 because US MARSHALLS arrested him and he had no contact with immigration to this point. I realize he dodged a bullet but I know it was Gods grace and. Prayers because it was same judge that sentenced him last two illegal reentry sentencings. And he was pretty mad their was no new illegal reentry charge. He will be. Deported when he gets. Out but. Does he still fall under immigration or simply federal inmate til released

most likely ICE will pop up during his bid and put a hold. He may be charged with re-entry and have to go before an immigration judge.

if he is not doing re-entry time then he is just considered a fed inmate
