Default Oldest sons dad

I had my son at 18 yrs old, his dad was sent to prison 2 months before he was born. For the first year I took my son faithfully to see his dad and then I felt bad everytime i went so I stopped taking him but was communicating with his dad. I went on with my life even though I never said I was going to wait for him I never really dated or anything. Years past and contact was slim, even though I knew where his dad was at all times. I always would tell my son his dad was in the army because I didnt want him to know the truth because his dad did some bad things. When my son was old enough to know i told him, he took it better then I thought he would. If i could do it all over again I would of done it all differently and kept my son in contact with his dad. 2 years ago his dad got into contact with me because he was out and wanted to see his son. It was something I have wanted for my son for so long His dad made the cross country journey in time to celebrate his sons 25th Birthday with him. The two of them had a great time together, did alot of catching up and getting to know each other. I really hated to see him leave but he had to as I found out he wasnt supposed to of left the state after he got released. On his way back they caught him and he has been in prison ever since again which is over 2 years so far. So he has been in a total of 27 years. Im not sure when he will be released again but when I ask him about it he said he would do it all over again just to see his son. So no matter how old the kids get alot of fathers still care and want to be involved.

What a sad story. And what a ridiculous (or worse) system that ends up preventing parents from connecting with their children and vice versa.

well I do hope that when he gets out again, that he follows his parole conditions.
I can understand him wanting to see his son, but still.... You gotta follow the *rules*

I am glad he got to see and visit with his son, and hope he will get to see him again.
