Default Oh My Goodness! 5 Day Lockdown!!

I have been out of town for the past several days and haven't logged in, but today I did. I was directed to the Texas Forum last week, from a Mom whose son was in the Texas Prison Systerm, as is mine, which by the way, is a sentence to HELL. No A/C, no library, no online classes, no jobs, nothing to rehibilitate, AND nothing to do!!! . Sorry as Hell. I thought that prison was about rehilibation, not warehousing. My son went through a 5 day lockdown. He told me that they had to stay in their bunks and couldn't take a shower for 3 days!!!! It's freakin' 90 plus degrees in Texas!~!! Anyway, on another note, there was a message on the Texas forum and I have to say, I really don't want to read about masturbation in prison, PLEEEZZZZE. I just prefer to not think about that kind of stuff. Enough said, I have only begun to vent and I will spare all of ya'll.

Ha! Well I guess that I will spare you the details. Just another thing that an inmate can get into trouble for.

I have to agree there is more that I have learned then I ever wanted to know and am always trying to focus on the good too. I am sorry your son is going through hell. This journey for me has only begun. Lots of hugs and prayers for you and your families.

DANG!!! We have ALL LEARNED WAY MORE than we ever thought possible...and yes, somethings are just beyond ....WAY beyond the line we should never cross!!!
As far as the heat from hell....I think Texas wins hands down. It is INHUMANE to lock people in cells where the temps exceed 100 degrees....and it is NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! I say we ALL send letters to TDOC!!!! Everyone of us!!! Like dump trucks full of letters!!! GGGGGRRRRRR And a shower every 3 days!!!! I'd be LIVING in the shower without a/c!!! It makes NO SENSE to subject people who have already lost thier freedom to UNBEARABLE HEAT!!!! But, who ever said we were dealing with sense?
I am praying for a cool breeze to blow over your son...and all of the loved ones in Texas!....and every other hot as hell prison.
Big love and BIG PRAYERS,
XXOO

So sad LoyalMom.... but at least the lockdown has only been 5 days. My son has been on lockdown (at San Quentin in reception) since Dec 1, 2011...only out 1/2 hour a day (for 2 meals total - they give a bagged lunch with breakfast) with shower 1 time a week. After 7+ months he has adjusted but thank goodness he is on the bay and does not need to deal with heat issues - only black mold and stench and filth and sewage amd H1N1 and scabies. -no wait that was county - INCARCERATION SUCKS!!!! What makes these children EVEN think about doing this!!!! And my deepest sympathy for those parents with repeat offenders...I am so sorry we all must go through this.

I wrote my son today asking what he would do to try to keep others out... what does he think we can do when he gets out to prevent other children from making these mistakes.... I can't wait for the answer (it will be a month from now as the mail there moves like a snail relay race)

Sorry for the ranting guys... having a moment.

LoyalMom, kevinmom and everyone else: as we follow our childrens journey through hell thank you all for being here!

can't help to add in my thought here (I think you might be rubbing off on me bumblebee) . . and I am blushing as I type this . . .maybe the reason they only shower every few days is so that all they are doing is masturbating! I really can't believe I wrote that! was that me - the preacher's wife that thought that? I must have watched one lifetime movie too many!

Got a letter from Ryan yesterday and Smith is on lock down as well. This prison seems to be forever on lockdown. But the good news is...DUH DUH DUHHHHHH

I am going to see my son for the first time since he has been locked up. Yes, I have not laid eyes on my son for almost five years. My doctor has finally cleared me for the drive of this distance. I leave Friday the 27th and will have a 4 hour visit on Saturday and 2 hours on Sunday. I am excited and scared at the same time. I am so afraid that I am going to do something..like reach out and touch him, to get the visit terminated.

Kidzmom "I would be asking the visiting officer what I could do...can I hug him - will you make me let him go - He's my son for gosh sake and I need to touch him!"

I did actually talk to a really nice lady with the visitor center and she told me that I am allowed to wear jean..even Capri or Walking Shorts. No tank tops or spaghetti straps. My tennis shoes will be fine. My walker will be sent through the metal detector first, then I will go through. She said my wedding rings will be fine, but any additional "adornments" would have to be taken off and then put back on..so it's just not worth the hassle to me to wear ear rings or necklaces. She said basically, if you would be comfortable in front of your grandma, then you will be fine here. I explained to her how I had not seen Ryan in so long and she says I am allowed to hug and kiss him when I get there and again when I leave. I am terrified that I am going to do some bone headed move like reach out and touch his face or put my hand on his arm .... something totally innocent, but get our visit terminated. I guess I had better just sit on my hands. I just want to see him..just soak him up. He was so young when he went in..His is the picture in my avatar. Obviously not the young man in uniform..that's my oldest son Luke. But that day that is pictured, is the last time I have seen Ryan. He got arrested less than a week after it was taken.

I am so sorry OP...I did not mean to hijack your thread.

Blessings~

My Dear, go to your visit with a pure heart. You mean no malice toward anyone, just the opportunity to touch, hug, embrace, and totally love your beloved son to show him your unconditional love. Please do not be worried about doing anything wrong. Human kindness and love shows through to EVERYONE, so if you do something wrong, just look at the guard with great big alligator tears in your eyes, a trembling chin and mouth, and if he give you a hard time, ask him, "Do you have children? "If so, you know how I feel". "I know you love your kids as much as I do mind." Work it girlie, work it.............I hate to say this but honesty used to be the best policy but now it is how to win the game. Harsh, I know.....best of luck.

LoyalMom - I can't believe I'm saying this, but Texas prisons sound worse than CA prisons. There is no rehabilitation going on here either. It took my son well over a year to get approved to take a college class via a correspondence course. He's supposed to start in the fall, but I'm not holding my breath - things have a way of changing from one day to the next. He is up by Sacramento where it's hot as well, but they are allowed fans in their cells. Thank heavens. Does Texas at least allow fans for the inmates? I sure hope so.

LovingMomofRyan - I am so happy that you finally get to visit your son. Five years is such a very long time to wait. I can understand your fear of doing something wrong - like touching your son's arm or face - but maybe you can observe what others are doing and take it from there. I hope the visit goes perfectly!! We'll be waiting to hear how it goes!

LovingMomofRyan.....I am SOOOOOO VERRY EXCITED to hear that you are finally getting to visit....5 years....I can't even imagine....or stop the tears!! I've teared up everytime I've thought of your post!!! BLESS YOUR HEART...and your son's heart. I just know that this will be the VISIT OF THE YEAR!!! I love hearing this....but the 5 years crumples me!!! I am praying that everything goes smoothly....and just dont let go of him during that initial hug....until they TELL YOU!!!! I mean that!!! I saw a mom at visit a few months back....she was crying her eyes out...and hanging on to him for dear life....and they let her hang on to him for a LONG TIME....I was crying crock tears...my son got teary...and I'd say everyone in the room was teary. She had not seen her son for many many years. I will never forget that.
So....you just hug away!!!!
I am praying .... and knowing that the end of July will be a beautiful blessing!
ENJOY!!!!!! And tell us every detail!!!!
Love and prayers...and warm and fuzzies!!

My son's unit is about to go on a lockdown and I'm really nervous.... He's also in tx prison, way down south by the mexico border. My prayers to all of your children who are going through this. I don't know how HELL would be but it can't be too far from what all of us are going through, some days are worse than others.

Wow, 5 years are such a long time. I am so happy that you finally have a chance to go visit. I hope you'll have a wonderful time. Being his mom, you should be able to reach and touch him. From all the visits that I had with my son (we're also in tx), we sat across from each other at the table and we could hug at the beginning and end of the visit. And I could reach out and touch him across the table. I don't know how the guards are at Smith unit but at all the units I've gone too, the guards were very friendly and we always had a pleasant time. I hope you have a great visit with your son.

KidzMom, I can share your pain since I haven't been able to visit with my son since mid May and I'm going through depression as well. I hope you will get a chance to visit soon. And it would be so wonderful when we can hug them and not worry about having to let go.... Sending you hugs and prayers.

We have all learned more of prison life here than we sometimes wish we didn't know. But I will be the first to say I've also found very important info here when I didn't know where else to get answers. Being that im THE ORIGINAL POSTER OF THE MASTERBATION thread, I understand that im sure my LO has not been and wont be the only one to get hit with a bogus case of that nature. Sure not everyone want to read about that and the DONT have to. But if your LO were ever to get accused of something that can greatly affect parole...you'd be looking for help, advice and answers too!!
