My baby is in Mid-State CF but he got sent to the disciplinary unit Tuesday that past I'm assuming cause that was the last time I heard from him, he's not in trouble they told me but what does that mean and is he not allowed to make calls ????
You don't go to a disciplinary unit for no reason. There is probably a pending ticket and they usually wont tell you that when you call and ask. They are not allowed phone calls in there.

Is he in Upstate box or cadre? Box is pretty crazy. They are extremely strict about clothes and getting through the metal detector. It's very sensitive so it's almost best to just wear sweats. If the buttons on your jeans go off, they will make you change, instead of most places that would just wand you and let you go. Majority of visits are with them behind the cage. If he just got there, he will be shackled too. There is a little slot to slide food through for them. You can kiss through the cage too when they get there and when you leave. I've also done the non-contact visits there which is when they are behind glass and there's no food slot. They just bring him a boxed meal at lunch time. You have to talk into a little metal speaker in which you can barely hear each other. We'd end up sitting on the counter so we could put our ears right up to it. The COs were cool with us doing that.
How long are the visits?

Why is box crazy? IDK what he's in yet... If he was given 60 days box wouldn't he be in the box there? Seems pretty stupid to send him there for 60 days...

They start processing box visits at 9 (they start the cadre at 8:30). They usually last until about 3. It can take them a while to come down because they will come down in rather large groups. It's crazy though because they are just treated like animals there. They have to wait until they are asked to go to the bathroom and when they are allowed, they have to walk backwards out of the cage with their hands behind their backs. Just some of the things my husband told me about his time in there, makes me wonder how people can get through it...especially if the bunky is crazy too. My husband's would steal his toilet paper while he was in visits and flush it all down the toilet, among other crazy little things like that. He's been to the box at Midstate, Southport, and Collins and would have went back to any of those instead of being at Upstate. (yes my husband had a really bad couple years and hit them all up :-( ).
What prison is he in ?
Mine Is in gouverneur and they only allow one 30 minute call a day. He’s about to be moved because he got in trouble so will be going to the box. But wasn’t sure if all nys prisons only let them on the phone once a day

Each facility may have its own phone usage policy.

My husband is in Clinton Main and he can usually only call once per day, if not once every other day and if we get the full 30 minutes we are lucky.
I have a friend in Cayuga who calls unlimited.
Hi! My husband is in Attica Correctional. We've been married for nearly 7 months and he calls me as frequently as he can. He's allowed 20 minute calls through Securus but sometimes the guards cut our talk time (a lot). A full 20 minute call is under $1 and I put $60 towards it and we've lasted into a year without constant topping.
