Default Is it true a 4th dui conviction is 10-30 years imprisonment

I read that a 4th dui conviction in Louisiana is 10-30 years in prison is that true?

Yes, it can be true. In any case, it IS a felony conviction.

Yes, but if you read through it looks like a large portion of that could be probation. Your best advice will come from your attorney as it depends on the individual, nature of prior convictions and current charges etc. See below link and information. Good luck!

'A DWI 4th offense is also a felony in Louisiana. The penalty ranges from 10 to 30 years in the state penitentiary. Two of those 10 years is without benefit of probation. However the remaining 8 years can be suspended provided that the offender agrees to complete forty 8 hour days of community service with half of that time being spent doing liter detail; that the offender obtained treatment for substance abuse at a facility provided by the Department of Health and Hospitals; and that the offender be placed onto home incarceration for at least 1 year. Like DWI 3rd offenders, a person convicted of DWI 4th offense is subjected to having his car forfeited.'
