Thumbs down microwaves in federal prisons

I was talking to my husband the other day and he told me that they are going to be discontinuing the inmates use of microwave ovens in federal prisons, or at least in Atwater. They are not going to pull them out they are just not going to replace them as they break. At least that is the plan for now anyway. That is really going to suck.

Wow!! That does suck. I know my boyfriend spends a lot of time cooking in the microwave.

Well I'm curious. Where are the microwaves located that they can use them?

In common areas usually QueenieB, we got the threat that they would be removed alot, never saw it happen and hopefully it doesnt happen there either.

I suspect removal of the microwaves is an idle threat. Many of the commissary items must be cooked in microwaves and since profit from commissary sales goes into their retirement fund, they would figuratively be "shooting themselves in the foot".

You're right! That was an across the board decision for all institutions, however, and their thinking might have been to reduce medical expenses due to smoking.

I was under the impression that the microwave threat was only at one. As we know, however, they don't use logic as standard operating procedure.

My fiance is currently at FCI in Forrest City Arkansas (Low ) and he has also told me that a microwave has gone out and they did say they will not replace any of them . So obviously it is just not at one facility ..
