Everyone is eligible for good time? I'm not sure that is correct. My husband is not receiving any good time.
Unless he is on death row, he is ELIGIBLE to accumulate good time credits. If the offense was committed on or after September 01, 1987 (more than 30 years ago), then he is ALSO eligible to accumulate work-time credits.
If he is Line Class III, then he won't be accumulating those credits while in that status, but it is a status that is only earned through major disciplinary sanction. Staying out of trouble allows for a promotion back to a status that DOES accrue credits.
Even LWOP offenders will get credits as do those in Security Detention.

Is there any new information on early release bills becoming effective on Sept.1 2019???
I wish I had an answer to that, but I don't. Hopefully, all of us will soon know. Maybe someone more knowledgeable with the goings ons to do in Austin will respond.
