Danbarn, Morgantown does indeed have RDAP. Byard, my bf was taken into custody the day of his sentencing and it took a little over month for them to place him, and he heard he was lucky it was so quick. No idea the process with you self reporting...

Thanks andsoweflow, thats what I figured. This just goes to show that the info posted on the bop.gov site is not always the latest and greatest up to date info, as Morgantown is not listed in their PDF document listing what facilities have RDAP. Thanks again.

Judge said he would recomend Morgan town you get that from the BOP and not the court ? right i have a registered letter to pick up but it's from cleveland
  • I was sentenced on March 29, to 21 months.
  • Received my designation letter on April 15 (mailed registered from Cleveland on April 14).
  • Ordered to self surrender on May 5.
This may sound funny, but I am looking forward to my "imprisonment" at Morgantown. I hope it does not take too long to get into the RDAP program.

Anyone have specific knowledge on the wait time to get into RDAP at Morgantown for someone in my position?

I was reccomended for the RDAP program by the judge and my PSI is littered with evidence that will assuredly guarantee my acceptance into RDAP. The only unknown is how long this takes at Morgantown for someone with a 21 month sentence?

If all goes well, I should be out of Morgantown and in a half way house within 9 months plus whatever amount of time I serve while waiting to get into the program.

This is very exciting. I was going to move out of my apartment and put everything in storage during my incarceration, but now I may just consider pre paying my rent since I will likeley be back in a flash. This way I avoid the hassle and cost of moving, not once, but twice.

I already feel like I am "Bi-Winning", just like Charlie Sheen.

Seriously, Morgantown has college classes, vocational training, musical instrument lessons, bakery, extensive recreation areas inside and out, picturesque breathtaking views, a lake, wild animals, deer, horses, weights, gymnasium, elipticals, treadmills, a chapel, TV viewing rooms, a movie theater, extensive commissary list, email, library, 300 minutes paid phone usage per month, Rehab program, etc... and on and on with all the endless perks.

Majority of the inmate population are highly educated inmates with white collar crimes and/or non violent drug offense. I'll probably make more friends there than I have here at home. With recent hard economic times, this is going to be a cake walk.

Clearly life will be easier and more stress free on the inside than out. The only negatives I can think of are little privacy, noise, shitty food, and not having enough time to read all of the books I have planned on being sent to me and staying in touch with everyone on the outside. These tradeoffs are easily manageable.

I can't wait and am very excited.

Nooo, haha that one's not true. You get up to 300 minutes a month to use, but using the phones or email requires you put money from your books onto your phone account. Email is like 5 cents a minute for up to 30 minutes at a time, but the lines are usually pretty long. Phone calls are pretty cheap if your loved ones get local WV phone numbers, really expensive if you have to call long distance

You can talk up to 15 minutes per call, and once you get a hold of someone, you have to wait 30 minutes to make another phone call. Everyone is allowed 300 minutes, and how you use them is up to you. The whole thing is managed by trulincs, which is a system that stores all your contact information and lets you know how much money you have. You can't use phone cards, just tell those people who would be sending them to send you money instead

Also, danbarn, I'm not sure what kind of college classes you're talking about, but my bf was told to finish his degree while he was in, but the only thing he can do is seek out correspondence classes from Ohio University. They do have GED classes and Microsoft courses and HVAC and such. More like a technical school, IMO.

Hey there, I have no idea if you can take money in your pocket, but I do know that you can't send money to the prison, you do have to send it to the iowa address or use western union's quick collect.
