KSR Honor Dorms are single cells....but there is a waiting list and they must have so much time under their belt with no write-ups to even get on the list. I'm not sure about Honor Dorm status at other facilities.

Some have dorms where there are a group of men in the building. Not sure about EKCC. CoopsBabyGirl's guy was there, perhaps she will come along and let you know about EKCC.

Northpoint has open dorms. I'm pretty sure that EKCC is double bunk.

My man is at EKCC and he has to share his cell and yes they do have double bunks. He has told me that some of the cells in the honor dorm are single cells but he said it takes a long time to get a cell in the honor dorm, plus most of the people in the honor dorm are snitches from what I hear and they got there because they "brown nose".

My husband is in the honor dorm and has a room all to himself. Recently, they have approved Playstations in the rooms, but they have to be bought through the canteen, which makes them unaffordable. My husband IS NOT a snitch and didn't get there brown nosing. He got on a very long list and hasn't got ANY write-ups for 10 years. They EARN their place in the honor dorm, and if they screw up ONE TIME, it's back to the general population.

Mr. was in the Honor Dorm at KSR for a number of years before making parole...he isn't a snitch or a brown nose either! He simply kept to himself, kept a job and kept out of trouble .

Ladies, please understand that the snitch part and brown nosing part is just something I heard. But thanks for clarifying that for me. I hope I didn't offend anyone when I said that. If I did, I am sorry. Thanks!

I agree with the others, my hubby has been in the honor dorm for quite a while - it just takes staying out of trouble, working and doing the programs. The part about being a snitch or brown noser is just a rumor - someone probably disgruntled because they did not get in or something. It is true - you earn that place in the honor dorm and if you mess up, you are out of there.

Yea, there isn't any need to take offense to something that is said on here. Especially the Kentucky Forum. We all come here to share our experiences and knowledge. As well as ask questions.

Yes the honor dorm is hard to get into, stay in, and it is designed to honor those who have been model inmates. However, that doesn't mean some don't slip through the crack. We all know that prison, the system, and anything in relation to is not always fair but that is just part of it.

However, just chalk it up as something that was heard like Larry's Lady said. Just when we thought we've heard all the rumors another one comes a long. But to answer the orginal question to the thread, they are double bunks in GP and single man in honor dorm. Good Luck and I hope your man makes it to honor dorm.

It takes a lot more than that to offend me! I knew there was no disrespect there, and I'm just happy that I could let all my wonderful PTO friends know the details of being in the honor dorm!
I'm an old hat when it comes to the goings on at EKCC, so if anyone has any questions, I would be more than happy to answer them. Why don't we start a EKCC support group?? I honestly didn't think there were other women out there who had loved ones at EKCC who frequented PTO...this is cool!

MY-Hearts-In-KY you should stop by the Bluegrass cafe that is the support group and chat area for the Kentucky Forum. We would be glad to have you.

There is a chat room for PTO but you have to post so many times before allowed to do that. I don't believe that anyone from KY goes there, if so it isn't often. However, we have the Bluegrass Cafe. It's not really chatting. It's more like an area that we post about ramdom stuff but we've gotten to know a lot about each other there. Also, I suggest that you do a search in the KY forum using keywords like "Eastern Correctional Complex", "EKCC", "Eastern". You will be surprised of all the stuff that is already posted.

Very well put ladies. There are alot of snitches in prisons as we all know as well as brown nosers, however for the most part people who obtain honor dorm status and keep it really work hard to get it. I truely salute those who get it. My hats are off to them. Besides it certainly has to look good to the Parole Board when the time comes.

I was at EKCC...dorm 8. You have a single cell until you are classified then its off to a double. They do not mix races in the cells and if there is someone that you are friends with and want to live with you can sign a contract in 6 month increments.

On the snitch/brownnose subject....these honor dorm guys are who work in the intake area and also help inspect your home packages...I actually had inmates taking away my belongings (under the supervision of 2 redneck CO's) and telling me what I could and could not have....I have no time inmates policing other inmates....
