Default He talks to me from a cell phone in prison.

Iíve been talking to an inmate in federal prison almost everyday through Facebook messenger. Heís an old friend who friended me while heís been incarcerated. Things got a bit serious between us and there has been A LOT of miscommunication. My question is how plausible is it that Iím not always chatting with him? All I know is they share the cell phones. It would make sense that I could be talking to someone else sometimes. But then I think why would another inmate want to talk to me. Idk has anyone else experienced talking to a different inmate on a cell phone than who they thought they were talking to?

They are bored and have nothing better to do.

You do know a cell phone is illegal. This sets you up for getting into trouble as well. Cut off communication.it is not worth it.

It's best that you stop all communication with him.

Like onedayatatime13, has mention that cell phones are illegal.

If he wants to talk to you, it should be through his 100 minutes a month or letters.

But if he has no issues using a cell phone and breaking the rules, chances of him living a straight life are not good. He is showing that he cannot abide by rules.

I would say yes, it's highly likely and it also sounds like he's not very smart. He would know when his time with the phone would be and would tell you that. I would say-- if you decide to continue in your feelings for him, be prepared to feel this level of confusion and discomfort for the duration of your time together. He's not learned to stay out of the game and he's clearly not winning at it.

Thank you for your response. Youíre right. He told me the cell phone belongs to him. But one day after he said he had to put the phone up his messanger stayed active for a few hours. When I confronted him he said he gave his phone to a guy to put away. This is when I started wondering if I was always talking to him. I just donít know why he wouldnít just be honest and tell me he shares the phone with others.

Usually, prison cell phones are shared amongst multiple inmates. Trading something to use the phone or paying to use it. Eventually he'll get caught with the cell phone.

Ain't that the truth. The guy sounds like a total idiot. Or, he's scamming.

Please remember that how people are inside, is how they will be outside. If they can't follow at least the basic rules NOW, don't expect them to follow them later.

Thank you!
He's not being "cool" for using a probably shared cellphone, he's an idiot and I'd run run run... no use to start anything with that (kind of) guy, if he chats with you he's probably also chatting with others.

He’s very much putting himself at risk. He is also putting himself in a position where you might have to write him in the hole for a long tome if he gets caught.

Default He talks to me from a cell phone in prison.

I would agree he is likely to get into trouble for the phone and they will check it for numbers messaged and called. He is likely also talking to others and itís highly likely other inmates are messaging you to pass the time.
Itís a hot mess donít get involved any further. If he really cares he can call you on the legit phones and message you on CorrLinks if he has access to it.
