Default Internal programs being shut down & free calls

With the Gov's emergency ruling of "no groups larger than 25", DOC is now shutting down programs internal to the various systems. A note from one of my friends at Snake said that chapel, BCT, and education have been shut down out there.

Don't be surprised to see fewer emails.

Due to the visitation issue, DOC is offering two free 5-minute phone calls per week to all inmates who still have phone privileges. 5 minutes isn't a long call, but it's enough to hear their voices and know they aren't doing horribly.

Amber just remember that everyone want the phone at this stressful time.
System may be overloaded, he may get to phone later.
It will be okay, hes safer than you are!

I don't know about the other Oregon prisons, but they are moving all high risk inmates to a dorm by themselves.

With visitation down, access to phones is limited. Also, many kiosks are in areas of the buildings that are now off-limits to inmates.

Be patient. Send snail mail cards. I'm always amazed at how fast a snail mail card/letter gets there. Sometimes its faster than email, and my "guys" always appreciate a card or letter. I know it's not the same as a call, but it's going to be more difficult for them to get to a phone or kiosk.

My guy is at OSP and they are having some type of a cold/flu there now. Don't think its COVID but am worried it will set them up for problems when the virus arrives... I got him a word search and maze book for a possible lock down when it arrives because many prisons are doing that. He said everyone is tense right now and worried about their loved ones outside. Bad times. I am going to up the snail mail too. He is having problems getting the tablet to email due to demand so communication will be the old-fashioned way. It is what it is. We all just have to ride out this storm...

I haven't heard anything about Warner Creek. It's hard to get info on them because they have such a small inmate population.

Maybe, in this case, being so small will be useful.
