Default How does anyone have LOP sentence / get out on parole? Parole was abolished

How does anyone in this state have a life without parole sentence or able to get out on parole when the state abolished parole decades ago? I know there is an indeterminate review board, but that isn’t really the same thing.

I've just taken a quick look at the FAQ for the Indeterminate Sentence Review Board (ISRB or Board).....sounds like parole to me, its just broken into specific if's ands or buts They do refer to it either as "parole" or "supervison" same as any other state.

Here is a link for more info on Hearings & Sentencing.

The ISRB is the parole board in Washington.

I'm not sure if they're the same as the board of clemency. The offender really needs an attorney for Life Without Parole cases.

There are people in the state of Washington who have life with parole sentences. The isrb decides if they get out on parole. It's a horrible system to face. 1 infraction and they flop another 3 years. It's for crimes before 1984 I believe. It's life with parole.
