Arrow Tornado Wrong Lockdown Process at Camp Carswell

Please contact the administrator and Captain at Camp Carswell, your members of Congress, and the Senate Judiciary Committee regarding this needless danger our loved ones are suffering. Please post the results of your contacts as a reply to this notice:

My wife has been at Camp Carswell since 2011. She's thus been through a number of tornado drills and knows the process that's supposed to happen to help keep the inmates safe in case of tornado.

The problem is that, when it comes time for an actual tornado lockdown, as they had recently when a dozen people were killed by a tornado just miles from the base, whichever officer they send over to see that people are secured where they're supposed to go will not let them go there. In all the tornado warning lockdowns the camp has had since she was incarcerated there, never once has the safety procedure been followed -- not one single time.

What's supposed to happen is that inmates are to go to the ground floor room that's either theirs or the one on the ground floor below the room they live in.

Instead, they are directed to their own rooms, even if those rooms are on an upper floor, which could mean death if the camp took a direct hit.

Carswell is in our nation's Tornado Alley. With global climate change, storms are expected to become more frequent and more severe. If an F3 or higher Fujita scale rated tornado moves through or touches down on a building, it is common for the top of it to be sheared off and everything on the upper floors carried away, humans included. For our loved ones to be put at that risk needlesslessly, either because of callousness or poor training or both, is a risk they should not have to suffer, nor should our government have to suffer the tort risk that such poor follow through entails.
