Hello Everyone,

This forum has been slow recently so I wanted to take time and let everyone new and veteran members get a chance to introduce themselves and get to know each other. You do not need to post anything that you do not feel like posting just a quick bio, nothing much.

I am new to this site my mother is at Carswell Camp. I have a question she has to testify against someone so they have packed her up. Where will she be staying and does she loose her job at the prison and her roomates. She has to testify agianst the people involved in her case as a part of her plea bargin. Her case is with the Fed's in Dallas County. Any advise will be great. I just spoke to my mother and she is scared to death.

Hi ; ) My husband is currently at Jack Harwell Detention Center in Waco, TX... it is a total dump! He has prostrate cancer & hopefully he will be moved to Carswell when he is sentenced. This is great news as I live in Fort Worth.
Sending good vibes & best of wishes to all members♥

Carswell is a women's prison only.

My wife and I have a friend who is surrendering to Carswell in May, 2013. We're very worried about her and are very thankful for this forum and the information it supplies.

I SS to Carswell on June 23, 2014. Any info on either the Medical facility or camp would be greatly appreciated.

There's a vast difference between the two, but both have several threads here about the and visiting, inmate guide book and commissary list can be seen at the BoP site.

Do you have health problems that might send you to the medical side? The camp is less hard, but your health comes first

I do have some health problems, but hope that they will not keep me from going to the camp. I suppose I will have to wait for an evaluation once I am there. Thanks for responding and if you have any other info, could you please forward to me. I'm 63 and pretty stressed about having to do this.

Hello new to this, my wife SS on Friday 12-19-2014 for 41 months. It is now Tuesday and have not heard from her in anyway phone, e-mail, or letter. Called Monday and staff were kind and stated she should have called by now. She had money when she SS. Its fixing to be Christmas and hope she can call. The staff did tell me that she is in the Medical Center part of the prison. Any one know why it takes so long for them so long to get phone privileges.

Welcome to Prison Talk and to the federal forums.

It depends on when her counselor approves her phone list and activates her on the Inmate Telephone System. The end of the year/Holidays is the biggest time for staff vacations, and that often slows things down considerably too. Also, the fact that she is in the medical unit probably means that her counselor will have to come to her. If she was in a regular housing unit, the counselor's office would be right there and regular "open house" hours would be scheduled.

One other possibility, it happened to me, but some other folks have avoided the problem completely, is that the money she had with her when she SS may not have been posted to her inmate account yet (mine took more than 3 weeks), If you deposit some additional money through Western Union quick collect, it will be posted immediately.

Default Hello

My name is Yolanda. Former 86395-080
I was incarcerated at FMC Carswell. I pray for each and every one of you and your families that have to endure what Carswell hands out.
I am here searching for former "friends" that I was incarcerated with. Sadly, I have forgotten so many last names, and those names have also changed. So many have also been released and transferred. I am looking for several in the Native American culture as well. The times would have been between 1999 and 2001

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the information. My wife will be joining the population at Carswell in the near future. I don't know if it will be on the medical side or the camp side, as she qualifies for both.

It is a great relief to read about the conditions on the inside, and to find out it isn't hell on earth, as I don't think she would live long if it was.

She loves arts and crafts and will no doubt be participating once she gets settled.

I'm very nervous about all the hoops, me and the rest of the family are going to have to hop through in order to keep her commissary supplied and to keep in touch through phone and email. Carswell is a 16 hours drive from us, so I doubt we'll be popping in often.
