Default Sentencing reform will be tried again

Senators from both parties are involved.

The bill, originally introduced in 2015, would reduce mandatory minimum sentences for certain drug offenses and armed career criminals while increasing mandatory minimums for other offenses such as domestic violence.

Well that's always good news that they are trying again. I know they helped me out and i got a year off when they retroactively applied the 2 point deduction. I hope more people get some help.

Unfortunately, I doubt we’ll see any sentencing reform on mandatory minimums as long as Trump and Sessions is in charge. Maybe with the next President.

I'm not optimistic and for sure don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but it may help that Sessions is out of the Senate. I believe he is one of the ones who blocked it last time.

I've been trying to follow this process and am unclear as to whether it would affect only drug crimes or all non-violent offences?
I also doubt anything will be done during this administration. Just seems, given the bipartisan support, the Congress might be able to get something accomplished irregardless of the White House. Would be nice to finally see some action in Washington!
