Default letter from an inmate

hello pto! i have never posted anything on here, but my dad got a letter from one of my brothers friends, who my brother got arrested with and a friend said i should post it on this site. The boy got 9 years, and for a high school dropout who never had a father and only a drug addict mother, i found this well said. It inspires me to keep moving with my relationship, even though my fiance is also in prison. It helps me to see, making it through this next year, is nothing like what he is going to be going through for the next 9 years...

I am stoked that I finally made it out of l.a county. That place is hell on earth. It’s much better here. I live in a two man cell and my cellie is cool. We get to go outside twice a week where we can work out and work out and play hand ball and what not. We get day room every other day where we can shower and watch TV. So that’s pretty cool. It’s nothing like being at home though. I miss the ocean and the girls of course and all of my friends but I gave that up when I got high. I f*cked up man! And it sucks but I can’t do anything about it now. All I have is the future now.

You know it’s funny. People think they are invincible until they find themselves waited down by the chains around their ankles and wrists. And some people will blame it on “society” or on their parents or like your son, bad choices. But in the end it all boils down to ignorance. We know its wrong, but what the hell, they will never catch s right?!? Wrong! Now your life is on hold and you have no way to pay the ransom other than with time. Something you can never get back. And you hope you can be remembered, and you hope people will wait for you, but like the wave that crashes the shore, taking the sands of time with it. Society has changed and your spot has been taken and nobody cares what you do. Wander the streets, “My how time changes, how best friends can become strangers.” But I just don’t want that….

I hope somebody found this useful!

Thanks...I have two brothers who need to read this because if they don't change soon they are going to end up in prison themselves. I am going to print this off for them to read.

Wow, he sounds like he is being totally honest with what happened to him and thattakes strength. I agree messy that its sad, but isn't it also hopeful? He seems to understand his role in his incarceration. I woud feel proud to know this guy
