Notice to new members intending to register - from January 9th 2012

I just got stenced to 120 months. I am supposed to report in five weeks. I was told by my attornies that I should be camp eligabe? The judge recamended a camp and the probation report recamended the drug program.My criminal history is catagory 2, I have no violence and got no points added while I was in for two months. Is it likely that I will get a camp? If not were would I go? If I do get a camp were should I go, I am in CA I heard Nellis was the best?

First of all welcome to PTO! You are camp ELIGIBLE because your sentence is 10 years (it has to be 10 years or less to be camp eligible). Hopefully they will designate you to one. Nellis is cool I hear. My man is at FPC Sheridan which is in Oregon which may also be a possiblity for camp for you. Good luck!

From what I have read, Nellis will be closed at the end of the year, and is not accepting inmates.

You will either be at a camp or possibly go to a low for your first 6 months. I don't mean to down play prison, as it isn't much fun no matter where you go, but a "low" security prison isn't that bad either. Camps are usually better, depending on which one you get, but lows are not nearly as bad as Mediums & USPs..
