Default How does your man describe the prison he's at?

Sorry ladies, please ignore the other post and only respond to this one, i forgot to add the poll to it.

Just curious... How does your man describe the prison he's at? Mine says that where he's at now there's gangs, the food is terrible, rapes do happen occasionally, and the COs can be complete *you-know-what's* sometimes, but he also said he's only seen 3 fights in the year he's been at the most current place. Overall, he says it's not NEARLY as bad as how they depict prison on TV and in movies and that he's mostly just bored and/or lonely all the time. (Maybe it's cuz he's in medium security?) Sometimes I think maybe he is just saying that so I don't worry about him. Who knows... So I was just wondering, how does your man depict prison and/or prison life?

He says it isn't so bad but it isn't like being at home w/some freedom, he's on a trustee camp so they can go in and out as they please (only on camp) but he says even though all the guys there are in good behavior you have to be to be there! but he stills says youhave to keep on your toes cause some of the inmates will do a 360 in a heartbeat and he tells me 2 or 3 days out of the week they get to eat BBQ right off the pitt but hes ready to come home

Well, my fiance's at a minimum security honor camp this time. He says he'd rather be in med-max security again and he HATES the camp, which surprised me at first. I think it has to do with the whole dorm setting though - the constant noise, people walking around at all times, smoking, etc. There are 140+ guys crammed in there and it's not a large building, so he constantly feels like he has no space or privacy. The food is really awful. (I had a CO show me a dinner from the chow hall once, so I can attest to that one!) There's no a/c, very little ventilation, and half the time the ice machine is not working so he hates summertime. For the most part, they all get along pretty well though and there aren't many fights or too much drama. He plays a lot of sports and he works outside of the gates Mon-Thurs so he tries to keep himself busy and out of the building as much as possible. He's been in a pretty bad prison before and I say "At least you're not there again", and his response is "I'd rather be there than in this place". I guess I'd have to live it to fully understand.

Well right now my hunny is at a schock camp and he hasn't really complained about it that much except the boots they have to wear hurt his feet. But he was at Clinton for a couple of days before and he said the place is muggy and nasty. It has rats and everything. He then went to downstate. Not much complaints there except that he was bored out of his mind b/c he's always in his cell. He went to Ulster for like 3 days and didnt so much about that place. About the ocasional rapes, no-one better of treating my hunny like their **tc*. He wouldnt tell me either b/c he'd be too embarassed.

He says it's ok but he just wants to come home. Most times he keeps to himself and other times he may play ball and communicate with dudes whom he knew when he was out in society. I don't care what anybody says the things that I've heard about the prison system you'd think they ought not wanna ever go back. However, that may be hard for those who have become institutionalized from being confined for so long whereas they've grown accustomed to prison life and wouldn't know what to do upon release - I suppose that's what the counselors and case managers and rehab specialists are for but how often do they do their job....hmph!

He wants to come home, he hates the noise, no air conditioning and mice, rats, cockroaches, the food is good. He says half his camp is gay guys all kissed up on eachother and child molesters watching kids shows playing with themselves in the tv room. All he does is read in his room. He gets in his share of fights and thrown in lockup cause he said he won't let any talk to him any old way they want. Mostly he wants a second chance at life.

Well when he was my man and when he was still in prison he said it wasn't as bad as it was said to be although obviously it wasn't great either.

My guy says it's not so bad there. He is in a low custody. Almost everyone is laid back, and gets along.
He said if I could be there with him, he could care less if he ever got out, lol

Joe has been at about 10 prisons in the N.Y. area, and claims that this one he is at now, is the worst. He describes it as HELL. It is maximum security. He says, he sees a fight, or a cut a day!?? Just dirty... homosexual acts... men from alllllllllll areas of life!? He just says, flat out --- HELL.

He set me straight as to the "misconceptions" of the prison he is at....that it is very clean, each cell has its own shower stall and he gets contact visits and phone calls(web said that prison doesnt have that) he works in the law library so he is always kept busy and we he isnt he is writing to me...hehe-so all in all he said it really isnt that bad just being away from me is whats hard...awwwwww

Prison is prison the way my husband describes his life behind the walls. Probably the prison he is in now, is one of the top ones in Kentucky. There are no fights to speak of because everyone knows they will go right to the hole.

While this prison has the best reputation in Kentucky for being the best, it also has the best reputation for having the worst "hole" and no one wants to go there.

I call it the family prison as alot of family men are there. There are usually alot of kids that are visiting there. They even have a small playground for them there.

Hopefully, this will be the last one he sees before coming home to me.

He hates it there but he also knows that it could be a lot worse...He is moving to minimum within the month we are told so hopefully things will be better then. He just hates the guys that are immature and try to start **** for nothin. He has a few good friends in there though so I know that makes things easier on him. More than anything though he just wants to come home...He doesn't belong there.

Jamie is in the medical dorm at Allendale. He said that it is probably the best dorm there. He got jumped before he left R&E so he has to be there because they broke 2 of his ribs. He said the food is horrible, but other than that he really doesn't complain much. I don't know if that's because it's not that bad or because he doesn't want me to worry. His letters sound better now.

He tells me that it is not that bad, but it is prison...I got all my prison info from Oz and stuff like that and he said it is nothing like that. Maybe he just doesn't want me to worry, but he says he stays to himself.

My b/f always calls it a hole! Its not too bad as he has alot of his mates in his unit. He tells me alot they play head games with him and the food is horrible.

Since being moved to the current unit he has his own room, a/c all the extras. He is medium security. There are alot of famliy encouraged visit where he is at. Play room inside and play equipment outside. Family visit days once a month.Things have been worse at other places so we are all thankful for what we do have.
But it is still prison!!!

Jerry has been to a fair few prisons. Most of which has detested with a passion!! The one where he didnt complain so much was FCI Edgefield. He would give anything to go back there to do the rest of his time, but that isnt gonna happen. He said that where he is at now is pretty crazy. Its WAY TOO NOISY for him. He hasnt mentioned about the conditions there as yet as he hasnt been there too long. He hated Marianna with a passion, as well as USP Lee! Nor did he like USP Atlanta! He prefers this prison over those.

I know I've wrote on this thread before but I got a couple letters from Jamie since then. He told me about some fights that had happened there and some other stuff. He finally confessed to me in the letter that I got yesterday that he's scared. A guy was stabbed in a fight last Friday and he ended up dying. It really worries me.

My sweetie's in medium security. He says it's actually okay there. He doesn't eat their food, he buys his own. He works full-time, works out every day, and plays all the sports they have, so he seems to be busy all the time. No one messes with him, so he doesn't have that problem. He sees every movie when it comes out on DVD, before I see it. About the only thing I've heard him complain about is having to look at men all day long, all the time!

My guy doesn't like where he is now at all. It may be because he is farther from me and because his time is almost up but he says he hates it there. The Other two places he was at was better but I know he had some friends at those places so I'm sure that helped. Overall prison is prison and It's not a fun place but I guess some are better than others. He did say He likes the medium security facilitys better than the level one his is in now. I'm not really sure why???

He tries not to talk about it that much. He says it smells bad because they recycle the air and the men have dogs in the cells and half of them never take showers. I know that his friends are there, so he doesn't mind it too much, but he cannot wait to get transfered elsewhere. Sometimes he says really bad things about it, but every time he does I get so worried, so he tries to not make it seem as bad as it is.
He does talk about the prison he used to be at all the time though, how there were mice running around and they would set traps for them and kill them since the C/Os wouldn't do anything about the mouse problem. I don't know, we'll see what he says about the place he gets transfered too though, hopefully he'll tell me a little more about it.
