Hi...I'm new to this so I hope I'm posting right. My friend/pen-pal is at PNM-North. I live in AZ, hence my "username". I've known my friend since 1994, although there was a period of several years that I stopped communication. I just recently began writing again. I've got some questions to ask, but I don't think I can bring it up on this particular forum. Where can I ask general questions?

My husband in currently in Las Cruces (SNMCF). I am fairly familar with the NM Dept of Corrections system if you have any questions.

Eyyaa: I don't have a loved one out there but I do have a few friends who have been sentenced to do their time out there since we are all from Hobbs. My friends tell me this place is a prison but not as bad as some of the others they've seen in New Mexico...if that eases your mind a bit. I've been out there a few times to see them so be sure to fill out your paperwork correctly so they don't postpone your visits (experience talking there). If I can help you in anyway let me know. samantha

I met a man at church who had done time for a gun crime and had been in max security at Santa Fe as well as Hobbs, and he told me that of all the places he did time, Hobbs was the best as far as programs, opportunities, etc goes, and since they tend to place you with others of similar crimes, (gangs with gangs, gun crimes with gun crimes, sex offenses with sex offenses, drugs with drugs, etc. there is less chance of being hassled by fellow inmates.

Who can tell me how it goes with a visit in Hobbs NM. This summer i'm gonne visit my friend in Hobbs.
So i would like to know how it goes when your inside the prison.

Santa Rosa is not so bad. The food is better there, the COs all seem nice and courteous. Visiting hours are normally two hours on weekends, but if you go during the week, they are slow enough that if you get there first thing in the morning, you can spend the entire time with him-8:30a-3:30p. The guys may hassle him for his charges, asking to see his papers, etc. but he may get that wherever he goes. There are some good programs he can apply for-anger management, Kairos, computer classes, horticulture classes, etc. Just came back from a visit there today, in fact!

Oh you had a visit, well that must been great. I can't wait to visit my friend. But i have to wait till august
