Another knee-jerk reaction. More money, more prisons, more beds, more benefits for DOC employees....how about less prisoners???
Get the deadbeats and druggies out of prison and put them where they can truly get rehab and learn to give back to society instead of taking. And sorry if I'm stepping on anyones toes, but prison, in my opinion, is for the ones who need to be separated from society because of violence and repeat crimes. thanks for posting the link to the article.

God bless you and your loved ones

they should STOP DIGGING into a hole that already there. If they send the inmates to out of state prisons it is only going to put them in deeper debt, in the long run, its what they need to do, that way the Federal Judge that hears the case will have all the proof he needs to order mass releases of inmates...

There are those who have been labeled violent who should also be given a chance to benefit from programs that will help them once they are released. Everything should not be centered around inmates labeled as nonviolent. There are some who are labeled as violent who are innocent...like the guy who spent twenty years, then it was proven he was innocent and the state says gee, "we're sorry, here's a $100 per day you were locked up." I think it was Texas, not sure. He got over a 1/2 millon dollars, but who knows, if he had his twenty years, what he could have done for himself and his family...but he lost twenty years of his life. I bet he was labeled "Violent".

Amen O'reilly...there are some who are labeled violent only because of the "type" of crime. Alabama should come up with programs for them also, because one day they will be released also...

Alot of these guys are labeled violent because that's the way the D.A.'s in their counties wanted it so they would have another notch in their belt come election time. "Get Tough On Crime" gets votes until it's time to raise taxes to pay for the inmates prison space because of harsh sentences. Then the public officials turn a blind eye on the problem just like they are doing now.

Also crimes committed in the heat of an argument or something like that. People make mistakes, that doesn't mean you have some kind of mental disorder that will make you hurt everyone you see!
