I stay at this little motel in Fort Ann,which is about 5 minutes from Great Meadow. It's called From The Heart & the woman who runs it is nice. It's $50-55 a night.Although it's far from fancy,it's close & it's a place to sleep. The rooms have a refridgerator & a microwave in them.I've called & asked for a room & she held one for me without my having a credit card. Here's the address & phone #:

From The Heart Motel
16 George St.
Fort Ann,NY 12827
Phone #-518-639-4411

Also, there is a Cumberland Farms(convenience store & gas station) right up the road from there at the traffic light.About 3 miles down from the motel is a nice little restaurant with really good food & inexpensive. It's called Sally's Country Hen House. Not much else in Fort Ann,very small town.Oh,there is a bank in town too,in case you need to get singles & quarters. It's right in town on your way to prison.Hard to spot though 'cause it looks like an old fort. The first time I was there I passed it twice looking for it!LOL!Finally found it with some help from the girl at Cumbrland Farms.
Take Care,B

I stay at the Rodeway Inn. I feel very comfortable and safe there only thing is when it's peak season, May-Sept it can be very costly. I love the fact that it is literally right next to all the outlet stores.
Rodeway Inn
1449 State Route 9
Lake George, NY

Default coxsackie hotel

  • Best Western New Baltimore Inn
  • 12600 State Route 9W, West Coxsackie, NY, US, 12192-1711
this is a 5 min drive, around 90.00 with AAA, pool, free wifi in room, free serve yourself breakfast (cereal, bagels, juice, yogurt, milk, ect) I stayed there once.

There's several very old and seedy looking motels near the prison on rt 9W I have never tried them.

If you're bringing food for him, there's a great farmer's market on 9W also, Black Horse Farms (2-3 miles away) if he likes fresh fruit and veggies, and for you there's great baked goods, but expensive. Closer is an ice cream place.

there's a 2 screen drive in movie theater open now 1 mile away.

Locally no big stores, take out chinese (picked it up) but you can hop on 87 and go to Albany to the Malls. I think there's one off 87 but I went to it years ago. Southgate Mall maybe.

If you're afraid of getting lost just stay on 9w, all those places including the prison are on that road.

I was stuck with nothing to do one day when they found a reason not to let us in, so I drove around to little towns, they're alike, neat little stores, artsy, I stopped in Saugerties, stopped in a park on the river next to the bridge. Woodstock is also not far.

Your going to fly into Albany? Because that is the only choice, and you may have to rent a car anyway..because the nearest hotel to great meadow is still about 10 15 minutes..but Great Meadow is about 1 hour north of albany..ssoo..

Girls.I live 15 mins from Great Meadow.I go by there ALL the time.Yes there is a motel call From The Heart.Ft Ann is a very small town. The only place to eat REALLY is Cumberland Farms. To get to the prison yes you will need a car, unfortunally up here we do not have cabs and buses.Great Meadow is 35 to 40 mins from the bus station in Glensfalls and for who said it is 15 mins from Lake George you must have been going about 95 to make it from Lake George to GM in 15 mins.I live 14 miles from it and it takes me about 15 mins to go by it depending on what way I go.

Post Greene and Coxsackie

The two closest hotels to these prisons are the Best Western and the Red Carpet Inn. I have stayed at both.Best Western is more expensive, but there are more ammenities, and the rooms are cleaner. There is a pool.Red Carpet Inn has a restaurant, convenience store, and a bar on the premises. But the rooms are older than the Best Western. All in all,I can recommend both of them. Both are within 5 miles of the prisons. There is a shopping center right down the road also. Both are located on State Rt.9.

I went to visit my guy at Great Meadow and I stayed at From the Heart Motel. It's inexpensive, the lady who runs it is very nice. The biggest plus is, it's really just a few miles from the prison. There is a tv and ac in the rooms and she'll will hold the room without a credit card. It's an older motel but it's decent for a nights sleep, that's where I'll be staying from now on. Oh by the way it's $60 per night. Also if you leave from the motel and take a left, go straight there's a kmart, and places to eat like subway, mcd's, and even a dollar store.

From the Heart has reduced its price to $40 per night for a room.

I looked into this bus and it is no longer running due to budget cuts, etc.

I have stayed at this hotel so many times & even though it has no fanciness to it, I was happy because it is only 7 minutes away from Great Meadow. But after all the business I gave this motel, the owner flipped on me one night out of the blue! Because there were workers from a paper mill in town the demand for the rooms was high. I have never paid over $60.00 to stay at Budget Inn but on this particular night (4 am) the owner tried to stiff me for $220.00 & I only needed the room until 9 am the next morning. 5 HOURS & HE WANTED THIS MUCH MONEY WHEN THE PRICE IS LESS THAN $60.00 ON A REGULAR! PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN CHOOSING THIS MOTEL!

I have stayed at this motel a lot lately & it has always been a very nice experience. The rooms are the same price at tall times & I agree the lady who runs it (& her family) are very nice. There is a train that runs by thru the night & that is my only con with this motel. Lots of parking space & the outlet mall & shopping centers (including wal-mart) are only a few miles away.
