Default Bolduc Correctional Facility (AKA The "Farm")

This is another facility that doesn't have much info posted on the DOC website about visiting.

Visiting Days & Times:
Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays:
8-10 am
12-2 pm
2:30-4:30 pm

Phone:
(207) 273-2036 ask for scheduling
Call between 1-3 pm weekdays

Facility Location:
516 Cushing Road (ME RTE 97)
Warren, ME 04864
Off US RTE 1 near the Thomaston/Warren line (south of the bridge over Georges River). On your left side as you're driving, about a mile down the road.

Info:
Visits take place indoors during the winter.
Outdoor visits start in mid-May and continue through Sept., weather permitting.
Must have picture ID and be on the approved visitor list. Leave personal, valuable items locked in your car. There are no lockers, but if you forget and bring your purse or wallet, the guards will usually lock it in an officer's locker for you.
The inside visit area is not really handicapped accessible. There are some steep stairs to go up. Someone in a wheelchair would have difficulty visiting.

What you can bring for food:
Winter/Summer visits:Fruit bag. Can only have certain fruits, which include bananas, apples, seedless grapes, strawberries, blueberries. NO citrus fruits. The guards are pretty cool, if you bring in citrus, they'll just remove it from the bag and hold it till you leave.
Summertime outside visits
Any food can be brought in, including steaks, chicken etc. for grilling. There are charcoal grills available for use. You must bring your own bag, and it has to be the instant light charcoal (no lighter fluid). Homemade stuff is acceptable, as is commercial stuff. Soda must be in cans only.
Holiday packages:
Christmas and Independence Day, you may bring in one grocery bag filled with non-perishable items. No soda. No protein bars. No supplements. Items can include instant coffee, dry creamer, crackers, tuna packages, candy, etc. Your inmate will write and tell you what he wants. And will send you a list of acceptable items.

Other Things:
You may also bring in things like cards, cribbage boards, etc., to use during your visit. Just hand them over to the guards to check. Bring own toys for the little ones (but be reasonable...only one).
There is no metal detector to go through. Make sure to stay in your car until the announcement over the PA that visits have started. Then sign in, with valid picture ID. Seating may or may not be assigned, depending on the guard. For outside visits, it's pretty much first come first served at the picnic tables/grills. You can't stake out your grill before visits start.
Dress code: Standard one throughout the prison system. Nothing revealing. Shorts are okay in the summer, as are sandals. At least no one's ever said anything to me.
No contraband, including tobacco.
The guards are pretty reasonable. Generally it's not a bad visiting experience.

Any other questions, let me know and I'll try to find out the answer.

Hey Danielle, Not sure if your man has been transfered yet but I can help you with a few of the questions. When my husband put in for the farm it took him a couple months to get transfered there, You do have to send him money orders (postal ones clear fastest) if you want him to call you or you can add money to his phone account onine at maine.gov, they have visits ever sat and sun and on holidays, at first they get 2 visits a week and can work their way up to 3 visits a week. You can pretty much wear whatever you want, they're not to picky about it up there. he CAN'T wear his own clothes he'll be givin jeans, sweats, and a blue button up tshirt(for visits) You can bring a disposable camera in too to take pictures, well hope this helped you!

I havent visited "the Farm" since the last time my husband was incarcerated years ago, and I see this post was started back in 2005 (which is right around the last time I was there), is this still the same information? I have been trying to call the phone number on here and keep getting a voicemail. Where do you find the information that you have in this post?
