Miami Heat/other basketball info needed...

Okay here's the deal my friends. I don't know squat about basketball, I'm more of the "Boxing is the sport to which all others aspire" type but nevermind about that...

My man loves the Heat so tell me stuff to tell him that will make him go whoa she is taking an interest in my interests. Now mind you I always keep it totally real with my man so I'm not about pretending I now have some knowledge that I seriously don't I'm gonna tell him anything you tell me and he will enjoy that.

Here's what I know: They play indoors ( I like that feature cuz outside yanno is where they park cars and stuff). They use that big ball and dribble although I think that is a personal problem, mind you. Terms I've heard: slam dunk and March Madness...

So how 'bout it friends can ya do some bball for dummies posts for me????

Hi Patty

I can help you out with this one. I'm a huge sports fan (basketball and football) I used to play in high school and college so I hope that I can explain some things for you. The Miami Heat also happens to be one of my favorite teams because I like Shaquille O'Neal aka Big Aristotle aka Shaq Diesel just to name a few .

Miami and Dallas (Mavericks) will be in the NBA Finals which start on Thursday (not sure what channel) If you have cable tv, try watching ESPN Sportscenter and that's all they will be talking about.

Miami's one-two punch is Shaq and Dwayne Wade aka Dee Wade. Shaquille plays center and Dwayne Wade plays one of the guard positions - he is a very popular player. Let's see - they play four quarters, and each quater is 12 minutes. They play two quarters and then half time and they play the other two quarters. If the score is tied at the end of regulation, they go into over-time. They will be playing a 7-games series, so in order to win the championship, somebody's gotta win 4 games.

Each team has five people on the court at once. They all meet at center court and the "jump ball" determines who gets possession first. The ball is thrown up in the air and the two centers (Shaq and probably Dirk Nowitski) from the Mavericks will try to tap the ball to one of their teammates, and thus the game begins. Each player gets 5 five fouls, on the 6th one they "foul out" and have to watch the game from the bench.

March Madness is typically the playoffs for the college teams. There was something else you mentioned, but I forgot . Well I sure hope his helps. I'm sure that it would mean a lot to your man if you two could talk about sports. That's actually what broke the ice between me and mine Because we both talked s*&$ all day long about why one team was better than the other.

2 and 2 now... we got 1 more in Miami than we go to Dallas, its better that we win the next one with home court advantage, than we will only have to pull off 1 win in Dallas to take it

Now if we can just get Shaq to make some dog-gone freethrows You're right, we do need that 3rd win in Miami. When it goes back to Dallas, it's gonna be crazy. The Mav's will be tough to beat, but we can do it.
