Hi all, i have a brother who's been sentenced to 10 yrs and is awaiting trial for armed robbery (not yet sentenced), also, I have a sister who's just been sentenced to 2 yrs and i have no one to talk to out here. Family all wants to ignore it happening but it's real... I just need someone to talk to about it occasionally. It's killing me inside and affecting my children. Please talk to me. e-mail address deleted per pto policy...Thank you

MIPS, Welcome to PTO!!! Hang in there. Everyone here is so helpful and supportive. I am fairly new to PTO myself (only 2 months), but with out everyone here I would be batty by now. Even when family is willing to listen it is nice to talk with others that not only understand what you are going thru, but able to help you figure out the confusing world of weird/stupid rules and regulations. Hope you are able to get as much comfort and support from PTO as I have. Welcome!

Welcome to PTO MIPS! I moved your post to the Siblings Forum as you will find lots of people here who know what you are going through. I am really sorry to hear about your brother and sister. It's difficult when you are the only one in your family right now dealing with the reality of what's happening but you came to a wonderful place for support so come here often. Just ask if you need help finding your way around.

Hang in there! This place is awesome for support, I haven't been using the sibling forum for long, but boy what a relief I have. The sibling chat is great as you talk about things other then prisons etc. and you feel like you make new friends who you can turn to. Everything must be difficult for you, at least by coming here you don't feel so alone. My brother is in for robbery as well, not armed but he is in Max. security at the moment. Like I say this place keeps me positive. You are not alone.

Hon, this is going to be a long, difficult journey. My heart goes out to you. As to your family not talking about it or pretending that it isn't happening, that is just the way some people deal with this kind of stress. Hang in there. PTO is open 24/7 (well, unless the server goes down or Fed-X is doing maintenance on it ). We're here whenever you need us.

MIPs welcome to PTO and the siblings forum. I am so sorry about your brother and sister. I have a brother in fed prison serving time for bank robbery. If you have questions about the federal system please feel free to pm me or ask here. You can give your e-mail to people when you pm them if you choose to do so.

Default my brother

Im not sure when he will be sentenced for the bank robbery, he's in rankin correctional facility right now and the bank robbery was in another county so they are transporting him to and frm his court dates , the marshall's who arrested them stole part of the money before they turned it in so there's a big deal about it all right now, they've discharged the 3 marshall's from duty since this was found out so we're hoping by them doing that it will help him out with his sentence. Since the freakin cops stole some and they found out so , we shall see. I'll keep you guys posted tho, thanks so much for caring. Mips

Hang in there! You will get thru this! My brother is in a state prison for his 3rd time and each time he goes, it is longer and longer. My other brother is in the county jail so I completely undersatnd what you are going through. The beginning is always rough emotionally and financially. But some how, you adapt and gain the strength you need to make it through each day. I have prayed and prayed and they keep going back. I believe that "god makes things happen for a reason". What helps me is that I believe that God has them in there for a reason. That may be protecting them from something in the outside world or to hand them a valuable lesson that will benefit them or someone else in the long run. It may sound silly but it helps me get through it. I love them more than anything but I have also learned that being the softy sis, they know they can call me for money or count on me for visits. It is like I am allowing them to make mistakes because sis will help me out. I have become alot stronger than what I use to be and you know what.....they are okay! Please don't let them bring you down! You will be fine, you'll see. It's tough bcz you love them. You have to remember that YOU have to take care of YOU! Good Luck. I know you will be at the point where you will be giving someone very good advice on this board!

Unhappy I understand fully

My brother just got sentenced for 6 years. He has been incarcerated for 2 months. He is so depressed and I worry about him because he is a diabetic. I think that PTO is a great forum. We all need someone to talk to. My mom is in Montana and I am in New Mexico. My brother is in Snake River Correctional Institution in Oregon. We aren't able to visit him. But the worse part is that his girlfriend who told him she would wait for him and stand behind him, just dumped him. It has taken a terrible tow on his emotions. I only hope that he will be able to get over her. My brother is 52 years old.

The sad truth about prison is everyone thinks this could never happen to me,or my family, till it does! They are incarcerating more and more people everyday, with longer and longer sentences. This has a far reaching effect, involving many friends and family members negatively.Dealing with your loved one being gone, and the stresses of everyday life can be extremely hard for those left on the outside.Sharing the problems and feelings you have are a start in the right direction.Hope and caring can conquer anything!

archiessister- Welcome to the Siblings Forum- I am so glad you found us! I am sorry to hear about everything your brother is going through right now but as freesomeday said, sharing your problems and feelings with others who know how you're feeling will really help. Ask if you need any help with anything please. When you get a chance you might want to check the Oregon Forum for info.on Snake River.
MIPS- any more news on your brother and sister?

Archiessiter, welcome to PTO and the siblings forum. We know how difficult it is to have a sibling in prison, I am sorry you are too far away to visit. Thats really sad your brother's GF broke up with him. MY brother is 54, but he has been in awhile.
