Just got word that Allen Bridgers who had a date on Tuesday received a STAY!!!!.

I am wondering what grounds the stay was granted on.

Not sure of all the details, but his aunt was visiting with him yesterday when they were told of the stay. I just got the news tonight.

Heard it from a friend that talked to his Aunt yesterday who said she was visiting him yesterday and was told during visitation that he had received a stay. I pray it is true also.

I'll call and speak to his brother tonight to find out because they were going to travel to Texas to be with him.

I am still unable to locate any further information. I checked the Houston Chronicle too. Has anyone else found an update? Joy....thank you so much for posting this.

I have not been able to find any confirmation on this. (Which is strange) Usually stays are all over the place. If anyone comes up with any kind of confirmation please post it here.

Like I said earlier, I got the word from his aunt. I hope I didn't jump the gun by posting this stay......

I just got an email through from a listing stating that he has received a stay but there is no other information at this present time.

Probably because it came Friday afternoon the information didn't get out. However, we will all know tomorrow. Texas isn't going to get this one!!! I have known Allen for 3 years and I would have lost a good friend if they had.

Has anyone heard any confirmation on his stay? I have been looking all over and cannot find anything that say he is to be executed or he got a stay? Anyone?

Joy, do you know where he was at in his appeals? IF we knew the court (state v. the Supreme court or somewhere else in the Federal system) maybe we could find the decision on-line--- just a thought anyway, boy I hope this is accurate!

That's good. I also got an e-mail from someone else that said he also got a stay.

This lack of info doesn't surprise me much though. When Julius got a stay, no one, not even his lawyer, a guard, the warden, no one told him. He heard it from me on the kdol shout out show. Lucky he has family that was able to tell him. I have heard there some who do not have a support system were never told and left waiting for the guards to come get them.

He received a stay on the Atkins claim. His case has ben remanded to the trial court by the CCA

I was so pleased to have read that his stay was official. Upon doing a search on Mr. Allen Bridgers, I found a news article that says the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has blocked the execution. My thoughts now go out to Allen as well as any friends, family and loved ones he may have. I hope something arises in his favour.

They have taken his name off of the scheduled executions list on the TDCJ website. I haven't read anywhere that he got a stay but they did take his name off. I'll call the unit and see if they will tell me. And Polunsky unit just confirmed that he has a STAY.
