Default Larned

My husband is going to Larned soon for evaluation. Do you know if you can have contact visits in Larned!? Please let me know! I'm hoping so! Thanx and God Bless!

Michelle, the visitation/mail policies at Larned are much more relaxed than other KDOC facilities, i.e. El Dorado, or Hutch.

Shawn has spent some time at Larned, and from what he tells me...a lot of guys "try" to get sent back there, because there are more privileges availble, as well as better food. He told me they even had "barbecue" visits in the summertime (providing there was enough staff to cover the event), and you could bring in favorite foods and prepare them there!

If I'm not mistaken, an evaluation at Larned is par for the course; lots of inmates have them, for many different reasons.

Hope that helps...
Susan

Thanx for the info Susan. Who if I may ask is Shawn and how did he end up in El Dorado and you in Providence, RI? If I'm being too curious you don't need to share.

Shawn is my sweetheart; we started as pen pals, hence the distance. However, I am in the process of relocating to Kansas (just about ready to list my house, finally!)...I'm fed up with city living, and wish to be closer to Shawn. Visitation is next to impossible when you're almost 2,000 miles apart

Don't be shy about asking questions, Michelle...I'm more than happy to answer them!

Susan, covered in "Pastel Rose" paint...yuk!

Where are you thinking of moving to? I work in Wichita which is very close to El Dorado. I am an announcer at the Christian radio station Light 99. 99.1FM. I'm on the air from 10am-3pm M-F and Sat. from 2-6p. We have a live audio stream on our website Light99.com if you want to listen. It's only contemporary music. No talk programs. Just music 24/7. There are not many stations like it from what I understand. I have been in radio for over 20 years. My dad was in it. I grew up in it. When you move here I'd be glad to show you around. I'm from Hutchinson about 50 miles away but have done jazz radio in Phoenix and San Diego. Also National Public Radio too. This place I work now KTLI is such a blessing. It's 19 stories up and has an incredible view. See ya Sue.

Interestingly enough, I've listened to the KTLI stream from time to time And the NPR affiliate from Boston, WGBH, is one of my usual stops on the dial....I've never cared for Top 40 programming, especially the disco crap that is the fave in this region.

What an interesting job, I bet....much more so than mine, LOL! (I work in Customer Service at Michael's Arts and Crafts). I really appreciate the offer to show me around town...I'm sure I'll need the help, too! Besides El Dorado itself, I have looked online at the cities/towns of Leon, Caldwell, Pratt, Fall River, Newton, Augusta, Eureka (lol), and Derby...as well as a few others close by. I can't believe what the housing dollar buys there, as compared to the East coast. I've found lovely homes in the $40-70K price range, whereas a 5-room starter with no "extras" in an "iffy" neighborhood here in RI will cost you $109K, minimum

Add to that the ever-increasing crime rate, the daily traffic nightmare (the store I work in takes me 18 minutes to get to at 11 a.m., but 55 minutes to get home from at 5 p.m....yuk), the overcrowding and filth of the city, the rampant cronyism and corruption in our local government (you may remember our 3x elected, beloved mayor, Vincent "Buddy" Cianci, now serving Fed time for racketeering and embezzlement)....and you can imagine why I am ready for a drastic change.

So many people have asked me, "Why Kansas...it's so BORING here!" But after living in major cities (Providence, Boston, NYC) all my life, "boring" is just what I'm looking for I've researched a lot of areas, from Oklahoma to Texas...and still decided on Kansas, for several reasons.

I lived in Arizona for a short period, some years ago...in the Valley (Chandler, then Douglas)...*whew*...HOTTT! But my goodness....you could not beat those desert sunsets

Good talking with you...sorry to be so long-winded, LOL!

Susan, listenign to Light99 right now....
