Default Visitation transportation

Im doing some research.
In the following states:

Colorado
Florida
Georgia
Illinois
Iowa
Kentucky
Massachusetts
N. Carolina
Ohio
Pennsylvania
S. Carolina
Tennessee
Virginia
Washington
W. Virginia

... are there Visit Transportation systems/service, to help those who either cant/dont want to drive the long distance to visits or even dont have a car?
If there isnt one, if one was to become available would you use it?

Of COURSE THIS IS JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR BECAUSE MY HUSBAND IS IN PINCKNEYVILLE CORRECTIONAL CENTER IN ILLINOIS AND HE HAS A LITTLE UNDER 4 YEARS LEFT; AND I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE THAT LONG DISTANCE ALL THE TIME WITH MY DAUGHTER IT WOULD BE SO MUCH EASIER IF THERE WERE A BUS SERVICE THAT WENT OUT THERE!!! IF YOU KNOW OF ONE PLEASE LET ME KNOW, THANKS!

You guys are all okay with just taking the bus? What happens when they tell you at the gate your clothing is wrong, or you brought something you weren't supposed to bring? Needed extra funds to get yourself home, but the limit is only 15 dollars per person? Having a car has proven to be very handy, although it was always a rental. I realize this isn't always an option for everyone, but I recommend it for people going in groups, or ride-share with people who have cars. There's nothing like being standing at that gate and told that something has to go back to your vehicle. You could end up like that guy that was waiting with me in Montana and told to put his 15 other keys that he wasn't allowed to bring "in his car", but he didn't have one. Not every facility has lockers for you to secure unauthorized items.

Just my thoughts.

I can relate to what you are saying, as i travel 4000+ miles to see my honey! I dont have a drivers licence, so i cant rent a car. I have to rely on either public transport or taxis!

Maybe a coach or mini-bus service could be provided for people who have difficulties getting to see their loved ones. The bus would drop them off and wait until visitation is over. They would have the opportunity to go back to it and leave stuff if there is a problem!

I agree with the sharing of a ride. It is a good idea, but one which is sometimes impossible to arrange as i founf out when i flew all the way over to see my honey. Thankfully for one of the weekends i got help from a couple of our PTO family!

Hi I'm also in London and my fiance is in Hazelton, Bruceton Mills, WV. I'm planning a first visit out there and know next to nothing about the place except there's very little there. If anyone has transport info for me I'd very grateful.

Oh yeah I also have no licence so renting a vehicle is not possible for me, so riding the bus or sharing a ride is the only possibility.

I would like to mention that I own a transportation service that provides transportation to correctional facilities in Illinois. It was started earlier this year in order to help family members visit my brother and also my husband who is now released. My brother is now at the Jacksonville facility.

We service quite a few of the facilities now, and are now looking to expand to more of the facilities in Illinois.

Individuals not only use the service to see their love ones, but also because they enjoy the ride because of the friendly atmosphere. Often some of us get together to do outside get togethers to talk, eat and just to provide support (often it's hard to talk to others about this type of circumstance).

A party is actually going on this holiday weekend to show customer appreciation. Also, many ot times, there have been balloons and birthday cake passed around the vehicle for those celebrating birthdays and homecomings.

It's AA Transportation and the number is 312-354-0771. Home pick-up is also available in most areas for those who desire it.

We jokingly like to call our service - The Power of Love!
But we know that's actually what it is.

I havent heard about no transportation service here in KY (but that dont mean it dont exsist). I have TRIED to be nice and offer rides but it is just a WASTE of my time. I had 2 cars at the time, and now I have 3 (although one is down).

I either was stood up or my husband was told I was charging too much gas. (I dont think 25.00 was too much when gas was damn near 5.00 a gallon at the time, but whatever)

He told them NEVER to bother him for a ride again. I have went out of my way more than once to help people FOR WHAT????

Plus, you never know when they will try to hide dope/cell phones in your car, or on THEM and then YOU get kicked out of visit and the property. It aint worth it.

I was KIND, but my give a damn is busted.
